All of these fuck ups were the studios fault. The only reason Jackson agreed to remake King Kong is because he knew they'd just get some no-name to make it. The studio held him hostage during the making of the Hobbit, threatening to hire Brett Ratner if he didn't agree to make them. Initially it was supposed to be 2 movies, but midway through production the studio decided to make it three films. Because of this, the Hobbit was a very rushed and stressful production. If you watch the behind the scenes of Desolation of Smaug, you'll see that they didn't finish post until under 24 hours before the final cut was due. Jackson wasn't the hero we needed, but the one we deserved
