DUDE RAPE VICTIMS ARE EVOLUTIONARILY STRONGER LMAO
This was hot shit
>>
was alright

the light-skinned girl and the protag were both fine af
>>
>>81182711
I found the perspective of "THE BROKEN ARE THE MORE EVOLVED" pretty interesting.

Shyamalan is taking the usual horror trope of killing everyone except the virgin girl and flipping it completely, where the sheltered and "pure" are the inferior ones.
>>
While the kino itself is a 6/10 at best due to the fucked up third act i like the butthurt it generated among SJW libweenies;

But why did he kill the doctor lady? What made her impure?
>>
>>81182711
What was the point of giving him 23 personalities and only show like 5? They could have accomplished the same thing saying he had like 9; why so many? The kid was the only interesting one

He did it because he shared with her and she said she understood, then felt he had gone too far. He only ate the impure, he didn't eat her

The flipping of this cliche has become a cliche in and of itself, and it's been around since the 80's. Horror isn't as dumb as we're constantly told it is. At least it didn't used to be.

i watched it yesterday. James McAvoys acting is really good but other than that ... holy fuck its so bad

heres what would have made this movie good:

>black haired girl is the one with multiple personalities and a recap at the end shows all the hidden clues and shit

such as:

>her never really being a room with the abducted girls
>video recordings on computer are actually her not him

im sure u can string it together but m night shamalaalyman is a fucking retard who should kill himself for making these cringeworthy plots

That being said, he said to those girls they were chosen specifically. So did he just not realise that one girl was getting diddled by her uncle?

that first article shits on horror films portraying metal disorders wrongly, then shows a pic of "girl interupted" with the caption saying it is a movie where mental disorders were portrayed correctly, then in the next paragraph, continues shaming horrors movies for not portraying mental illness in movies accurately giving a few examples, which includes "girl interrupted".
what the hell. can't take that author seriously if they make that kind of blunder in an article.

the second article, the author takes a confusing stance. "I like the movie, but i'll criticize it because i'm a sjw.".that was the gist of it.
also could't take that author seriously.

i was reading someone that said you have to watch unbreakable first or else you won't understand the movie and that was total bullshit. i mean obviously you should watch unbreakable before watching the next movie since it's going to be them fighting each other but there's no need to watch it for a 5 second clip at the end showing that the films are in the same universe.

They spend the whole movie talking about how people with DID have superpowers. The doctor talks about a woman regenerating her eyesight, and that Kevin/Barry/etc is exceptional.

And they talk about the Beast being this amazing thing

This is why movies are shit. Because whenever someone blends genres, or steps outside neat little cookie cutter bullshit, people take 20 years to get over it and realize that it was actually good.
>>
I have seen most recent M.Shamalamadingdong films. And they all suck. This guy has no talent at all. MCAvoy was friggin brilliant but this dingdong guy sucks ass.

like everything in this world, there's shades.
I can suspend my disbelief in many cases, I love sci-fi movies and even there they usually fuck up their sci parts but I'm usually cool with it and I'm perfectly capable of enjoy any movie.

This movie in particular tho, the ending was hot garbage, like a vampire B-movie shot in mom's basement garbage writing. Did I mention that the guy started climbing walls like spiderman? maybe if I had some of his web I could have suspended my disbelief better.
>>
>>81182711
Honestly, I don't believe we are supposed to agree with the beast*, but I kinda do. Because going through a traumatic event means they are more experienced, know their limits and how to read a situation better than most people.
*the other girls failed because the main character was insecure due to her trauma. If they all worked together they could've subdued the kid form at least.

People can't appreciate good shit.

The only reason plebs do is, "oh there's David Dunn it's a SUPERHERO movie."

Cut that out and it's still the best movie of the year. People are just too dumb. Tell them it's a thriller and they'll get pissed off if something supernatural happens.
>>
>>81198090
My biggest issue with the movie is there was basically zero tension especially after all the girls were separated. Obviously nothing is going to happen to the only character on screen. Then the other two are almost out and in the next scene change just dead. All three should have been chased or at least two of them. Those two died so obviously the last chick is fine.

>>
>>81198051
You're either lying or don't know how type 1 diabetes works. It clearly walked the line of supernatural the whole film and then went full on supernatural that yes, david does have "powers" but they're still in the same realm of believability as a person with multiple identifies having one personality that's diabetic.

Even when the beast came out it left some stuff in reservation:
>he didn't become covered in hair like a werewolf
>didn't grow claws
>didn't become 10 ft tall

Some might even argue he strength wasn't even super human, just a lot for a man of his size.
>>
>>81198235

that muslim historian is /his/
>>
>>81198208

It was a different kind of tension for me. Plot tension subsides, but the character tension remains. Watching to see what happens if the Beast actually surfaces. Waiting to see the girl's backstory.
>>
dont actors read the script before they accept these cringy shit?
>>
>>81198263
I know how diabetes works. I know damaged optical nerves do not regenerate naturally.
I said it before, I can suspend my disbelief.
They stablish in the movie that brain chemistry can perform physical changes in the human body.

There is no way in the world that changing your brain chemistry in any way or form would give you spiderman-like powers. EVEN fucking spiderman cant explain how he climbs walls, tiny spider hairs in the tip of your hands? bitch please, it would be 1000 times more believable to justify it with jedi powers
>>
>>81198348
I assure you, that's the proper way to respond to this movie.
>>
>>81198421
Some parts of the dialogue felt somewhat forced, I agree. Like at the very end at the Unbreakable tie in. It was still a great movie, tho.
>>
>>81198450

That's the point though. It's totally crazy.

Fantasy. Magical realism is the right term I think

>>81198476

>>
>>81198573
yes, and my point still stands. That magical crazy fantasy does not surface until the very end.
The medical cases, although unrealistic, are stablished in a logical way, brain chemistry -> body chemistry. Disbelief = suspended.
But then he gets superhero powers that do not follow the stablished logic and come as bullshit writing

>>81198647

What do you think anon? Personally I think she reports him. The flashbacks show her inability to truly stand up for herself, but in the end she shoots the Beast.

That's what the look to the cop in the end was about

>>81198734

But it's brain chemistry doing the impossible.

The doctor talks about the woman with the sight. But that is A) one personality exerting influence and B) something that happens.

Kevin has 20.....23? He has a fuckload. And his body is used to the various changes his body goes through. Not just major ones like the diabetes, but also the minor ones like Hedwig being so much weaker than what's his name (the OCD guy).

And the ritual to bring the Beast is deliberate. It's not something random like the others. They're deliberately calling these qualities out. Focusing whatever mental capacity they have to change their body. It's important, I think, that most of the personalities became suppressed.

But thats just my take. It helps that I am a occult religious faggot and believe in magic. The movie is still nuts, but it works for me

You aren't really suspending belief though. You wre trying to find a justification when there is none. When one physically impossible thing is possible, others should be too.

To each their own though

Most movies are about exceptional examples. So I expect characters like this to push the boundaries of what is possible in their respective worlds
