I was obsessed with this show, I mean utterly obsessed, never missed an episode if I could help it, when I think back to being 13-15 this is pretty much the thing that makes me nostalgic the most when I see clips of it on Youtube.

But despite being such a fan I bailed on it relatively quickly, it was late 2006 when they changed sets for the third time, I didn't like the new set and I didn't like the direction the tone of the show was going in.

If I had to sum it up I'd say when the show started it was FUN, it just had a really upbeat and fun tone but as time went it became more and more cynical, almost like Adam and Morgan were sick of it.

Sometimes I wish I had stuck with the show for a bit longer though, what was it like in 2007/2008?

Kevin Pereira still to this day runs an AOTS clone like 3 days a week on Twitch called The Attack.
He isnt the regular host anymore, but he sometimes hosts it. He also has a big podcast.

The show is very similar to old AOTS.

I recall Adam mentioning that it was mostly a financing issue. Less and less viewers were tuning in so they had to stuff the network with shitty reality TV shows to appeal to a wider audience. The hope was that it would bring in more viewers and allow them to plug high-paying ads (from beer companies, etc.). Unfortunately a lot of the remaining viewers saw this as watering the network down so even less started watching.

On top of that, Comcast started really losing faith in the show's ability to pull in money, especially after X-Play the musical brought in no viewers (which cost something like a million dollars to produce). This gave them less freedom to produce off-the-wall content that attracted to many people and arguably led to even less viewers.

The whole thing makes me wonder how high-budget a show about gaming can become before falling apart.
