The director recently made a post on reddit it was posted on /tv/ by some anon afterward about his vision and challenge on the movie. He really seemed invested which was reassuring.
He also said that Kojima cannot be involved due to legal shits regarding Konami. But it isn't stopping the director with consulting and discussing the movie with him as much as they can.

Why does everyone assume they're just going to turn an existing game into a movie? If anything, they'll use the opportunity to make some more backstory, or even make a whole new oc donut steel protagonist.
With what they have already though, there's quite a few options.
