I think the show looks like what movies and tv shows set in the 20th century will end up looking like. Like, sure, right now we know what the 60s were like, but if we try and make a movie set in the 1730s, we often get loads of stuff wrong that we don't even think about it because our idea of the the 1730s were like isn't that different from how the 1740s were like. Like maybe we get people to dress in the wrong fashion, maybe they use slang that isn't appropriate, perhaps people use technology that wasn't around or have ideas that weren't very common at the time and so on.

Does Davids other persona's or personalities actually manifest physically? Or they are all in his head?

I've done a little googling on the comic and im not sure if his power literally makes physical representations of the persona's in his heads and they each have mutant powers

There was a storyline in the comics where they all leave his mind and come into reality and he has to go and catch em all like pokemon, but usually they are all in his psyche. On the show it seems it's all in his head, eg his sister doesn't remember them ever having a dog, it wasn't really there.
