Why can't Americans into cringe comedy?

Not everyone is a miserable cunt like most britbongs.

Veep and Nathan For You are both pretty cringe.
tod margret is the biggest cringe comedy i've ever attempted to watch and I think that's american (partnered with channel 4)
Is Curb Your Enthusiasm cringe comedy?
Because Americans like to empathize with the main character and Brits like to make their main characters into people you hate and want to see shit on.
Stephen Merchant is also particularly bad at doing likable characters, so for an American show he'd be better off doing a side character.

>Americans like to empathize with the main character
How do you not empathise with being in cringy situations? I don't care how socially awesome you are, you've been embarrassed a couple of times in your life.

nah, most people are miserable, the difference is that it's Americans try to cover it per their culture
>cringe "comedy"

People do empathize with those in cringe situations, such as what occurs in Curb Your Enthusiasm or Parks and Recreation. But if we're talking about British style of cringe like done in Hello Ladies with Stephen Merchant then no people do empathize with assholes.

It's not only the british, it's a very unfortunate trend in tv these days of making unlikable, unfunny characters into a relatable person.
That being said, I think hello ladies is great and actually rides that line well

I think you should watch Curb Your Enthusiasm.

hello ladies was seriously cruise missiles of cringe, I really couldn't take it for too long.
