Of course /tv/ likes this movie because they see themselves in it.

it doesn't have the same impact as the book because you felt like you saw the characters grow with each other and it was like every chapter was them crossing the bridge so the end was heartbreaking.

Conceptually, sure. It was never a game though.
We just role-played whatever we felt like at the time.
For instance, I remember digging a trench along the side of my folk's house with the neighbor girl for hours in the pouring rain pretending we were rerouting the flow of water that was going to flood the town.
