Best superhero movie ever. Not that it's saying much but still.
>>
Did you have an urge to go to IHOP after watching?
>>
>>81124187
Not really although I felt a strange urge to pick up a new washer/dryer combo from Sears
>>
The movie is "meh". I was hyped to see it because of the great trailer, but the movie itself was underwhelming.

It might as well be The Godfather in comparison to Batman v Superman, though.

It's just a damn good movie, cape or no cape.
>>
I love Snyder but Cavill is just not a good actor. He fucked up his dialogue at the end of BvS.
>>
Cavill did well, there was a lot of pressure on him in this role yet he pulled it off, making Superman look sympathetic and aggressive at the same time. Great choice for Superman, as natural as Chris Evans is as Captain America and Sebastian Stan is as Bucky Barnes. I don't actually get all the fighting between DC and Marvel fans.

This movie is only good when compared to the MCU trash. On it's own it's pretty mediocre
>>

There are tons of really human touches to the performances in this movie. One of my favorite scenes is right after he gets back from the Arctic and sits down on the steps to talk with his mom.

You ever notice how flaked the paint is? That's completely intentional. It's a statement on how long it takes us to become mature, fully realized adults. Clark's been off finding himself through his self-absorbed 20s and here we see that his widowed mom is letting him do it - no guilt trip, just waiting for the upbringing to do its work.

If you think I'm just memeing, you should check out the special features where they talk about the sets and that they actually painted the house to achieve that look.

I was going to make a Man of Steel Saturday thread tomorrow for rewatching this gem with /tv/. Not sure if there's interest. I really feel like this gem has aged really well. I suggest everyone who disliked it back in '13 to watch it now. With BvS in perspective, so many scenes become more meaningful.

>>81123897
I like it. Zack Snyder's direction is great as usual. The only misgivings I have is the writing on 2 scenes. Pa Kent tornado death scene could have been should have been scrapped in favor of a less fantastic but much more human moment where he passes away from a disease or infliction etc.and Clark cannot help him even with his great power and what he learns from it and how it inspires him. It could have been a real tear jerker. The church scene also lacked any impact and seems as though much was edited out of Clarks discussion with the pastor. A few minor dialogue gripes beyond that but there was still so much more to like about the rest of the movie. 8/10 for me

Let me break it down for you. The only reason he ever wanted to find him is because he had the Codex. The only reason he wanted the Codex was to rebuild Krypton. When Clark wouldn't give up the Codex and pretty much all Kryptonian tech was either wrecked or Phantom Zoned, Zod was unable to do any of those things.

At that point, he was completely without purpose and unable to see a future for himself, so he chose a warrior's death and forced Clark to give him one.

That's the movie you watched. Poorly.

You're welcome.

The only people who think he doesn't like comics heroes are the very worst of fanboys who only *think* they know the lore. Want to know what Snyder thinks of fanboys? He made Jimmy Olsen, Superman's biggest in-universe fan, a "fake," and then shot him in the head.

It's going to be lighter than BvS (as Terrio said months before BvS) but the script is the same as it ever was. MoS was about fathers. BvS about mothers. JL about brotherhood.
>>
>>81127773

>>81127701
He said he'd build a new Krypton atop his bones. He says that at the point where he knows the Codex is in Kal and that he doesn't even need Kal alive to extract it.

You're not wrong, though, He despises what Kal represents. He's an abomination to Zod, but that's sidereal to getting the Codex back from him. Once he's deprived of the tech he needs to even make proper use of the Codex, and knowing that he can't beat Kal, he chooses death.
>>
>>81127863
Goyer wrote BvS. But after first screenings to WB they decided that they need to change this crap so they asked Ben to bring his friend, Terrio to fix as much as he can.

I don't like Goyer either. I think TDKR was a complete mess. But BvS had a really good script. Or it was just really well-directed so they hid that pretty well. From interviews it does seem that Terrio did most of the BvS script though.

From what I understand, Terrio just changed the dialogue here and there. He didn't change the structure that Goyer had already laid out. It shows because some of the dialogue was really great. It was how it all fit together that was lacking, and that's Goyer's fault

It was great.

While I highly admit BvS had flaws, MoS is probably the best DC movie along with Batman Begins they ever had.

The only qualm I had with MoS was John Kent's death. That shit was beyond stupid.

Otherwise, the Krypton intro to MoS was by far my most favorite capeshit intro ever. It gives me chills every time, its something I hope capeshit delivers once we get over "oh no Earth is in peril" and we finally get to visit other planets.

Marvel has four movies that earned a billion plus. Still waiting for the DCEU to have so much as one (Nolan's movies don't count).
>>
>>81131604
Disney also spent four billions buying fucking Marvel so that's a net gain of zero.

Also BvS outsold Civil War at BD+DVD sales. Despite having smaller budget as CW went into big reshoots to include Spidey.

Guess why Disney's sweating so hard and bombarding social media with shills? Their four billion investment is about to be flushed down the toilet with the way things are going now.
>>
It's certainly the best of the 3
>>
>>81125235
lol. I was about to re-watch this weekend too. Whole week i have urge to watch MoS again.
>>
>>81131667
Even if Disney was worried, they wouldn't accomplish anything by paying me to post facts on a site like 4chan.
>>
>>81131775
Winning the battle for social media is crucial. Disney suits already know this. >>81127598
And it's not a coincidence half the catalog is smear campaigning the DCEU at any given time of the day. Disney is very worried. 4 billion dollars invested and they've already reached saturation point. They treat their IPs like coal mines.
>>
>>81131775
You underestimate 4chan. We elected US president.

Man of Steel was fucking great tbqh

wish i saw it before i watched Batman vs Superman. Man of Steel is SPECTACULAR! The only valid critic someone 'could' have is that the fights were too long but ayy lmao.

Other than that it was fucking great. Only people who criticize it are marvel faggots who want their ebin spider man meme jokes and shit.

Yeah seeing MoS before BvS is a must. I was surprised at how closely tied they were. Seeing the intro segment with the destruction from Wayne's point of view was amazing when three years earlier seeing the battle from Clark's POV.

The tornado scene is a legitimate complaint that nobody can turn a blind eye to. Regardless, the overall movie is just a great watch with a little road bump in there. Hoping anon streams tomorrow.
>>
>>81132656
STOP
>>
>>81132656
I don't think the tornado is bad like everyone says.

Jonathan Kent wanted his son to be hidden away from the world, to let him make his own choices and be his own person. If Clark had flown in and saved him, then everyone would have seen it and his identity would be discovered.

I was gonna be a dick but that actually sounds like a cool thing to do. Watch the Metropolis scene from the ground first and seeing Superman for the first time as everybody in the movie does.

It's alright but the story definitely feels pretty thin compared to BvS.

Snyder should not be allowed near superhero movies and Warner Bros need to get some of the actual Superman writers on the script.

Mark Millar talked about the intent, and I think the intent is solid

It just doesn't quite land.

But that happens in movies I watch a lot, so I don't know whether to blame the movies or me. I just watched Lars Von Trier's Antichrist and the last half an hour is a lot of "wait wtf?"

But some movies aren't meant to be gotten in one go

Scenario 1
>I'm going to kill every last one of them, Kal.
>Zod I will not fight you here.
>Ok
>Zod proceeds to kill everyone in the city while Superman just waits in Antarctica

Scenario 2:
>Superman grabs Zod and carries him into space
>Zod kicks a satellite at Superman and flies straight back to Metropolis to kill more people, which is exactly what happened in the film
>>
>yeah no need to kill the alien that invaded the planet who can shoot the sun out his eyes

>superman could just keep holding him from behind forever

>they should have the kriptonite that did not exist yet to weeken him

>after talking to him and he killing half of humanity he would sure give up

>superman should not have killhim
>even if he was winning the fight, his ship killed half of metropolis even BEFORE they started to fight and he clearly wanted revenge for his ship

did i forgot anything?

And you watch BvS and see how the world reacts to being like Superman. It's pretty hard when he's like 30, imagine going through that when you're 16. The government probably would've quarantined Smallville and the surrounding county, Jon and Martha would've been apprehended by the govt. while Clark would be captured and tested on. His father wanted Clark to live a semi-normal life and be "Superman" when he felt ready.

Half the catalog is just DCEU jerk off threads complaining about Marvel and calling anyone who doesn't like DCEU Pajeets. I assume they're all doing it for free, though.

Every day, there's a constant MoS or BvS thread going, or multiple threads. At this point I don't know why there isn't a DCEU general.

it is the best superman movie *live action*to date, but there is still potential to do better.

if they could only adapt Earth One to a trilogy, I feel that this way of doing a realistic take of Superman would be way better.
