No. Americans love Robocop. They would love Judge Dredd if they actually read comic books that weren't capeshit or The Walking Dead. Also if the original movie wasn't awful. Also if Dredd was advertised better. With all the shit Americans eat there's no reason they wouldn't like Dredd a lot.

A lot of Americans never watched the original or the new one.
A lot of it too probably has to do with the near total lack of advertising. I didn't see a single ad for Dredd until a week before release, and that was at the theater.
