Interesting concept. Brilliant tone with visuals and soundtrack meshing superbly (worth watching in cinema for this alone). Acting good all round. Story loses its way in the last third but still very enjoyable.

But the thing that stops it being great is the fact its a 12a (britfag). Needed to be a 15 as a minimum. So much of the action and effects are crippled by the 12 rating.

-Major and Batou's friendship/chemistry is nowhere near utilized enough
-Story is fairly straight forward, has good concepts but doesn't go into depth
-A couple of clunky scenes kind of stall the movie out occasionally. Thinking the nightclub sequence, and the scene where Major goes to meet the woman Ouelet points her to
-Typical modern trailer shit, every major set piece is in the trailers. The beginning of the movie is in them. The end of the movie is in them.
-They don't use the Puppet Master explicitly, but they've basically used up his story so it couldn't be done if they made a sequel

No, no, I mean in relation to other TV shows. It's very, VERY uneven on its quality, Motoko's model is always out for some reason, and the CGI is all over the place. The thing is, the first and third I can sort of see in the time and place it was done, even though other series at the time had much better animation and were much longer, like FMA. But Motoko's model, jesus fuck, it's like they had a slider on the size of her face while her head was still the same; and that's while everyone else was half consistent, looking good. I really love how SAC builds depth out of every character and really squeezes the posibilities of the events it portrays. If you check out how Batou acts around Motoko (and in her absence in the case of Innocence); there's an almost unfathomable affection for Motoko in him, related to his own quest for a feel of humanity, which he is more leaning towards than Motoko. The scene where he puts his jacket on Motoko after the diving sequence, trying to cover her, is an eye opener on that.

It wasn't good. Let's forget about the source material, forget about the source scenes they wasted or made the same but worse.
As a sci-fi it didn't delve into the idea of soul against flesh, it didn't explain the hacker's escape from his brain and made his death or escape from a shoehorned moment that you're supposed to care about because 2 minutes ago we find out about his past.
The corporate head evil man is a shit plot, the action could've been better paced and i didn't really like scarlet's acting.
I would've liked a well done adaptation, i would have liked an original, deep, philosophically interesting sci-fi (which GitS was) more.

Well, my question is why people that appreciated the work or even like it would like it being adaptated like that (I would have appreciated a new take on this, like SAC did, but this is just rancid). Condoning this shit is like throwing the gun away in a duel, hoping that the other guy will be kind enough not to shoot.

The body language and the lighting, the distance of the buildings and the sky.
On the animation it shows the loneliness and seriousness of her mind.
On the movie it looks claustrophobic and depressing, as if those slums had peeping eyes on that bitch that doesn't know how to fucking sit down.

Especially the ending, fucking narration. It was almost as bad as that horrible movie where johanson becomes god because stem cell baby juice made her brain go into god mode because "humans don't use 100% of the brain".
She can't act much, she can just do a serious face and have a nice ass. You could see her trying to move stiffly as a gimmick for the character.
