What are some good movies to watch with my nephew that I can be sure won't rob him of his soul? Kids movies are so patronizing and lazily written these days, so it's hard to find wholesome entertainment for kids that also isn't artless and degenerative. I want to defy his parent's orders by showing him something that isn't Minions or Frozen.

back to the future trilogy.
more family movies than kids movies, but kids love them too

We are the music makers, and we are the dreamers of dreams.
>>81098744
That's my favorite movie of all time that's forced viewing for my nephew. With this movie in mind, I can't think of a single post-2000 musical with any memorable songs (memorable for being good). Musicals are a dead genre as far as I'm concerned.
>>81098417
>SUUPERMAAN
>>81098331
The goonies
>>81098331
Underrated disney masterpieces like Atlantis and Treasure Planet.
>>81098489
this one was great
>>81098331
Actually Rango is pretty underrated if you haven't seen that one. My two favorite movies as a kid were Spirited Away and Matilda which are really good kids movies as well.
The Prince of Egypt
>>81098331
I like The Road to El Dorado
>>81099037
rewatched this not so long ago
the pacing seemed off somehow. It wasn't bad or anything, but everything happened alot faster than I remembered it
>>81098331
The Emperor's New Groove. The funniest fucking movie Disney has ever made.
>>81099037
First half of atlantis was incredible. Second half was trash. Animation was pretty inconsistent but what was good was REALLY fucking good.
Vinny is one of the best side characters in any Disney movie though.
General Generic is one of the worst Disney villains.
>>81098331
Belladonna of Sadness
>>81098331
All movies are for kids

Live action would actually be harder, does Big count, or is it too vulgar?
>>81098331
Got you, famalam.
The Prince of Egypt.
I didn't watch it until I was 22 somehow.
Fucking beautiful movie
>>81099921
I forgot about Big. There is some temporal pedophilia in that movie, but there's no way my little nephew will get that yet. Goddamn this thread is full of so many winners.
>>81099923
Whenever I see Casper Van Dien in any movie that isn't SST, I just pretend he's playing Johnny Rico.
>>81099925
Great score by Hans Zimmer, awesome visuals. Could be a little too harsh for younger kids tho (slavery, mass infanticide, the plagues)
>>81100970
This
When thinking of kids movies why does no one ever remember Babe?
It's a legit good fucking movie and the ending is pure kino.
>>81099228
15 years later and I still laugh like a retard every time I watch it
>>81098331
watch the MCU, its for kids and usually pretty meh but some are not entirely shit.
when your nephew is a bit older introduce him to the DCU
>>81098331
>>81102427
Because Babe 2 is better remembered.

I hated finding out this wasn't successful. It's an amazing film.
>>81099037
Wasted potential. I remember being creeped out by the trailers as a kid
>>81104099
I disagree. I think it IS their best. Finding Nemo is a close second with Toy Story 2 as third.

Is The Wind Rises really made for kids?
Miyazaki likes to tackle different genres. Ponyo and Princess and Mononoke are definitely not made for the same demographic.
>>81104099
I'd probably say it's their best overall movie.
But I think the best work they've ever done was the first 30 minutes of wall-e. It was so simple yet so magical at the same time. A very hard thing to accomplish.
>>81106956
Not him but, no that is not a kids movie.
There's nothing inherently 'adult' about it.
It's just they would be watching it for the pretty colors and animation while having no idea what's really going on.
This is sincerely one of my all time favorite movies and it brings me a lot of joy watching it for whatever reason.
I don't know how many people here actually like it since it hasn't been mentioned yet.
>>81107064
Great movie
>>81099228
This anon fucking knows, the GOAT.
Boggis, Bunce, and Bean
>>81099923
I rented this at the video store to put on for my 8 year old and 6 year old, thinking it'd be a fun family movie judging by the cover. Boy was I wrong. The one scene in particular where the VC bodies are being burned in the pit and it zooms into one of their exploded eye sockets while Army Dog pisses directly into his skull gave ME nightmares for a week, can't imagine what it did to the kids.
>>81107064
Great film.
I wonder how many kids these days know they joy of listening to Rainbow Connection for the first time.
>>81099228

>>81108407
why was this movie 100% pure 90's kino??
he won't get half of it but it's still a great ride
This is pretty standard. Roeg and Henson are weird bedfellows in this production.
Another Jim Henson kids film. This time, he collaborates with Golden Harvest.
