It's not anywhere even near the best HBO show, let alone best.

It had its moments and I did overall enjoy it, but there were a lot of points where Piven hard-carried it and it went drastically downhill in season 4 when he stopped giving a shit after he had his Emmy's.

it drops significantly in quality when it becomes a soap opera and it is all about their wives and girlfriends and shit, i think it was season 6 or 7? i just dropped it. it was male power fantasy escapist bullshit but then they cast some porn actress, made vince a depressed drug addict and had them all have relationship problems.

Does anybody like Vince? The actor is fucking terrible and Vince as a character was so boring as well. He was quite figuratively just "dude weed lmao", not even memeing.

E, Drama, Turtle, Ari. Everyone else was infinitely better at both acting and as characters. Vince was seriously -the- worst part.

Something interesting I stumbled across. There is this movie called Adventures of Power, written by and starring a guy named Ari Gold. Adrian Grenier (Vince) also has a major part in the movie. So I'm wondering if for the show entourage they gave Jeremy Piven the name Ari Gold as some kind of tribute to the writer/actor from Power? Maybe someone here knows what I am talking about.

Hang out sitcoms (Friends, Happy Endings, New Girl) and riffs (RLM, MST3K) are more classic friend simulators, Entourage was more like a lifestyle simulator. As in, you could have all the friends in the world, but you and all your friends wish you lived lives this glamorous.
I'm told SATC was a similar thing for female audiences and I guess the less dramatic, more low-key Gossip Girl and OC installments would be similar aspirational TV.
For dumber people there's shit like Jersey Shore or the English attempts at it, which are the same formula again but with scripted "reality" replacing the solid script and character work. Also, as good as the writing was, Californication is for middlebrow single men what Entourage was for young men and SATC was for young women

Super fun show, even for neets or normies. Not so ironically it went downhill when the cuck creator met some bitch and let her be the head writer, thats when all the relationship drama and all the guys getting their "comeuppance" from POWERFUL WOMEN came in. Forgot what season, 5 or 6, is the true last season. The movie was good too
