Presumably resolving the destruction of Metropolis and allowing the opportunity to properly explore the impact MoS had on Clark, as well as going into more detail about the effects Superman would have on the world, hopefully leading to a much more confident and focused Clark going into BvS.

if BvS was always the plan for the third film then I think it'd have been a lot better had it been done this way, WB fucked up.
