Yes it's campy at times and it's literally first world white people problems but goddamn it's so heartfelt and the comedy is so sweet.

No, I feel like that was 2 or 3. It's established maybe towards the end of Season 1 that she's "becoming her mom" in a certain sense but that goes from a very vague attention to detail around the flat to Chandler being scared that he'd moved stuff around from their "proper places" when he cleaned the flat for her.

Most of the comedy in later seasons of sitcoms comes from how absurdly fladerised the characters get because it allows the writers to get them into stupid ass comedic situations. Joey believing he was speaking to the ghost of an eight year old girl or to the ghost of Estelle on the phone was funny, even if it's not arthouse level writing.

If you want to see flanderisation done poorly watch the later seasons of How I Met Your Mother or Simpsons or something.

Oh I completely agree. I was just pointing out how the characters changed. Later season Ross and Joey are way funnier than earlier seasons. It's only Monica that just got really fucking shrill and annoying. Rachael definitely became top girl by the end of show because of it.
