What is the best film adaption of a book and why is it Holes?
American Psycho is pretty much exact with a handful of scenes left out of not much importance

Coincidentally, the best porn I made with your mom was called "Holes".

I've never read the book. Does the movie preserve the tone too? Because the Brazil-esque dark absurdism in the last act was the best part of the movie.
>Read this book as a kid at 12
>Movie came out shortly after.
>Guess my teacher wanted to prepare kids for the movie
>Find out my younger sister was reading this at 12th grade

Dude, I work as a substitute teacher. Last week I worked in a second grade class that was reading this. It is universal.

Movie is pleb-tier, even without having read the book. /tv/ only likes it for le doubles guy
Holes is good. More or less faithful adaptation (couple of small details were lacking I seem to remember)
The Shining is one of the few adaptations that actually improved on the source material. Fight Club did as well I think.
LotR Trilogy is great.

Impressive. Very nice.
>One of my favorite books to read in school
>Even loved the movie.
>Years later
>Found out the guy who made the Godfather, Apocalypse Now and Jack did the movie
>Just very recently found out that there's actually 4 other sequels
>3 that have been made to movies
>Somehow it took me this long to find out.
>That scene where Sigourney scratches Mr Sir with the rattlesnake venom nail polish

Yeah a few details were missing. The water running uphill both in Latvia and at God's Thumb, for example. But some of the things they added were improvements, like the secret ingredients of Sploosh, so it evens out.
Never watched or read Fight Club, but I'd be amazed if any other human handling that story in any other medium didn't improve upon a book written by Chuck Palahniuk, who seems to think that literature serves the same purpose as pepper spray: to cause disorientation and pain.
LOTR Trilogy is a miserable adaption. The Scouring of the Shire was the emotional lynchpin of the story, the true climax. Without that it's just meaningless adventure movie. The stuff with Arwen was also retarded, a classic case of Screenwriting 101 sticking its dick in where it doesn't belong and ruining a story with cliches.

Pulp Fiction is a pretty good adaptation, even though they gutted the third act of the book.
