Hello Anon, Why would I ever shill a film like master of horror Stephen King's IT™ Part 1, I mean just look at this trailer

It is odd how blatant it is. I find it hard to believe anyone got that excited after seeing the trailer. Looked like every other modern horror movie.

I'm just curious why so many media shills are going to such lengths to say:

>SKAARSGAARD ISNT JUST COPYING TIM CURRY HE HAS A NEW LOOK AND HE'S BRANCHING OUT AND DOING HIS OWN INTERPRETATION ON THE CHARACTER

And then the absolute only thing different is that he's wearing dumber makeup, and not doing a Tim Curry accent.

Pic unrelated. It's character interpretation done right.

Tim Curry played Pennywise like a bozo the clown act. He's supposed to be terrifying. He appears to the kids in the book as their worst fears. The clown is just his preferred form; he appears as a clown to adults too. The idea that he's supposed to look innocent is something nostalgiafags who never read the book are projecting onto the character because they got scared of the lame fuck miniseries when they were 5

>Every 30 years, there's a spike in violent crime in the town of Derry, Maine, going all the way back to colonial times. in the 1950s, a group of kids start seeing creepy shit (mostly in the form of a clown, but sometimes a werewolf or just blood all over the goddamn place) and conclude that there's a supernatural reason for the murders and severed penises nailed to walls and what-have-you. they go into the sewers and confront the aforementioned supernatural reason, then forget all about it and go on with their lives.
>in 1985, they start remembering It, and become aware that they didn't actually defeat It, so they return to Derry as adults and banish It for good..... except for when the clown has a cameo in other Stephen King novels like Tommyknockers.

and one of the adult versions of the characters commits suicide rather than face it again.
>>
That trailer looked like any old bland horror movie. This one happens to have a clown. That jump scare in the sewer is silly i feel like it cant make the cut. BOO HIYA GEORGIE YOU MOTHERFUCKER COME OVER HERE IN THE SEWER WITH YOUR UNCLE PAUL
>>
alternate summary

>Stranger Things, but in a larger town and the kids are all the same age instead of there being grade school kids and high school kids. Replace the Upside-Down with sewers. The monster is a shapeshifter, and definitely kills instead of abducting. Drop the government conspiracy and Eleven (those came from Firestarter anyway), and the kids have to return and fight the monster again when they're adults. But when they were kids, they all banged Nancy to bind themselves in a magic ritual.

>something nostalgiafags who never read the book are projecting onto the character because they got scared of the lame fuck miniseries when they were 5

I read the book and that was pretty much the reason he was a clown. Why would he choose that form if he was trying to scare people? The book was written back when clowns were considered innocent and fun, that book basically popularized the "creepy clown". So you probably never read the book and just need to stop being a shill
>>
>>81073985

One part of It's perspective even says this "After all, what child doesn't love a clown?"

So this anon is correct, It appeared as a clown because back in the day, kids loved clowns.
>>
>>81070269
that'll be in the second part. The plan for them was always to do 2 movies, one with the kids and the other when they come back to town as adults.
>>
>>81061000
>The idea that he's supposed to look innocent is something nostalgiafags who never read the book are projecting onto the character
The kids literally thought he looked like a mix between a clown they saw on TV and Bozo.
>>
>>81074099

Bozo was the clown they saw on TV.

The narration makes a point to mention that if George had been alive a couple more years, his first thought would have been Ronald McDonald.
>>
>>81074170
I thought there was a clown that didn't talk and was on some western show.
It's been years since I've last read the book, so I'm probably thinking of something else.
Also, isn't there some rule for clown make up to not have any sharp edges?

having the clown look like he's a member of Slipknot is gay. he's supposed to look like a normal clown until he gets up close and then he's all "I'LL SUCK YOUR COCK FOR A NICKEL! I'LL SUCK YOUR COCK FOR FREE!" and then he rips a kid's arm off. then he can look edgy, but when he's just chilling in the background of some picture from Ye Olden Days, he should just be a normal, non-spooky clown.
>>
>>81074412

They might still have him do that, I think the only things we've seen featuring him is when he's supposed to be scary, like when he's attacking or fucking with their heads.

Exactly, sharp edges scare people, so it wouldn't work for Pennywise since he wants to lure the children.
Also, Ronald still had round edges, he just had a whole different creepy vibe to him.
>>
>>81074680

That fucking nose, man.

I wonder if part of the reason he looks creepier is due to the new movie being set in the 80s, when clowns were not as popular as they used to be.
>>
>>81074759
I guess clowns were becoming unpopular considering Gacy happened in the late 70s, but the purpose of the Pennywise disguise was so It could get kids to come close to him or lure them into a spot where he could easily capture them.
But it's a horror movie, so I guess he had to be scary looking.

>The doorways between Keystone Earth (which is where we are) and Mid-World (which is where Roland is) are literal doors in the book, a great fantasy image of a doorframe floating in mid air, which is what excited me so much when I saw the 1919 door early in the presentation. In the actual footage from the movie, though, they look like Stargate SG-1 portals, triangular-shaped metal tech rippling with energy that allow someone to pass between worlds.

>I have no idea what to make of Matthew McConaughey's The Man In Black. He's playing it reaaaaaaaaalllll big, which I both appreciate and am really nervous about. He also seems to have Jedi powers, inexplicably. There were a few battles between him and Roland we saw glimpses of where he was literally force-throwing objects at Roland as the gunslinger fired at him.

>There was another scene where he's taunting Roland in the woods somewhere and says “The war is over, Gunslinger. You're trying to save the world, but you can't even save yourself” as he's walking away from him. Roland growls out part of his mantra “I do not kill with my gun, I kill with my heart” and he takes aim at the man calmly walking away, pulls the trigger and fires. Without looking back, the Man In Black's hand reaches back and grabs the bullet mid-air before it hits his skull and, not missing a step, he says “The tower will fall, Roland” with a smile.

>All the action scenes felt weirdly Matrix-y. Roland's speed reloads were shown two different ways, neither were all that great (but the effects for both were still rough). The first was that his belt was lined with fully loaded cylinders that he could just slap his gun against and reload and the second was him dropping six bullets into open cylinders in the middle of a gunfight and they each perfectly fell into place, which is more in line with the book.

>Again, not something I necessarily would get caught up on if the world around him felt right, but another little bit of weirdness that has moved my personal needle on this adaption from cautiously optimistic to “Man, I don't know, guys...”

>During this raid, a bundled up bad guy grabs Jake and Roland is desperately looking for him. He stops in his tracks, all manner of chaos going on around him, and he focuses. The sound drops as he concentrates. He focuses in on a piece of metal clanging against another piece of metal somewhere in the camp. He turns his head, refocusing, this time on a drop of blood plopping into a bloody puddle from a dead finger. He shifts focus again and we hear the rustling of the person that grabbed the boy, hurriedly running away.

>Roland lifts his gun up, slowly, and aims it to his left. He doesn't look at where he's aiming. It's many seconds until he pulls the trigger but when he does the bullet rips through clothing hanging on a line, past dwellings and then right into the head of the guy running away with Jake, both falling to the ground.

>It's a neat moment that is not really at all like what he does in the books, but feels right.

>I hope my nervousness surrounding this footage is unfounded and let me tell you that there'll be no one happier than me if I leave that theater at the end of July with a big ol' grin on my face
>>

That shit will never be in an IT movie.

Its also highly unnecessary and only panders to King's weird ass fucking fetishes like the one book where a cop rapes a little boy trying to return a book.

Fucking pointless bullshit for the sake of it.
>>
>>81076889
>the one book where a cop rapes a little boy trying to return a book

I fapped to that
>>
>>81059726
so, will Patrick Hockstetter be in the movie? the psycho kid who put animals in the fridge in the junkyard
>>
>you'll float too
>you'll float too
>YOULL FLOAT TOO
*Clown screams in horror movie*

No!
>>
>>81076989
NOT THE OOGA BOOGA RUN NOOOO
>>
>>81076867
>that his belt was lined with fully loaded cylinders that he could just slap his gun against and reload
>slap his gun against
Fucking Hollywood action, needing fucking fast bullshit.
>dropping six bullets into open cylinders in the middle of a gunfight and they each perfectly fell into place, which is more in line with the book.
Where in the fuck was this in the book?
>>
>>81073851
Another anon pointed this out, but where is his hat? You'd imagine a cowboy in a "western" film would wear a hat, ESPECIALLY IN THE DESERT!
>>
>>81077013
How else is a clown going to run, you fucking moron?
>>
>>81077103
are clowns legally bound to run like that?
>>
>>81077103
>defending this
>>
>>81077058
Black people can't get sunburnt.
But more serious, maybe the hat wouldn't match the outfit, I don't remember seeing a hat in any of the pictures.
Also, I think the book mentioned that he lost his hat when they were describing him
>His shirt, the no-color of rain or duct, was open at the throat, with a rawhide thong dangling loosely in handpunched eyelets. His hat was gone. So was the horn he once carried
>>
in an industry where effortless capeshit makes millions of dollars and game of the thrones is a popular show, it's really not that shocking that people can be hyped for this blatant trash
>>
>>81077103

I assume they run like every other human, only wearing face paint and big shoes.

I can't find any videos of native clowns in their natural habitats running like a cross between a spider and a J-Horror cliche.
>>
>>81077215

I think it's great that new generations never have to risk enjoying something new that older generations haven't already vetted for it's commercial viability.
>>
>>81077103
Don't worry anon. They're just pretending to be autistic morons. "Waaaaah he isn't silly enough" "waaaaah he is too silly!" Don't mind these knuckleheads.
>>
>people think thing looks good
>"how dare people like it!"
>"shills! shills!"
>>
>>81077449
>too silly for a horror movie
>autism
>>
>>81077016

It's not exactly described as that, but it does mention how stupid fast he loads his guns one handed, and that it's eerie as fuck.

SO it's not spelled out like that, but it would sort of fit a little better than the speedloader bullshit.
>>
>>81077384
>running like a cross between a spider and a J-Horror cliche
Have you even seen the trailer?
>>
>>81077384
>like a cross between a spider and a J-Horror cliche.
Nope. He runs whimsical like he's knows he's a CLOWN or something.
>>
>people mad about a remake or reboot
>original wasn't even good
Aside from Curry's performance, the original IT was shit. Bad movies are the movies that should be getting remakes. Not saying it will be good but still.

I can't even say if the book was good because its 1000 pages of of deranged coke fueled nonsense
>>
>>81077462
>>people think thing looks good

No one in their right mind could think this looks good.
>>
>>81077652
you need to read more if you think IT is deranged nonsense, coke fueled sure.
>>
>>81077514
I know it's supposed to be a trick, but it wouldn't have been more impressive had it been a single action revolver with its typical loading procedure.
But since this revolver has a swing out cylinder in the movie, it seems to me more like a action movie gimmick, rather than some amazing reloading trick on Roland's part.
>>
>>81077384
>I assume they run like every other human, only wearing face paint and big shoes

Go to a rodeo someday. They don't just dress different they put on a whole act. It only do they move funny but they talk funny too. Are you a poorly programmed AI? You're giving me the heebie jeebies.
>>
>>81077652
>can't even say if the book was good because my ADD won't let me sit still long enough to read 1000 pages of of deranged coke fueled nonsense

FTFY stop being a plebe.

>Watch trailer
>boys club
>All the men look like boys numales
>Literally added a girl so the feminists wouldn't get up them. (it's a mens club, why in fuck is a girl there?)
>Looks almost like a straight for straight shot for shot adaption of the original.

So they just took It and made it fucking liberal and gay looking. Wow so amazing. Fuck modern Hollywood sucks ass.

>>

Wait, it is?
>>
I'm convinced Stephen King is an abusive pedophile and IT is a representation of his fucked up desires.
>>
>>81077576

Yes. It's the final shot in the trailer. The stinger.

You should watch it.
>>
>>81077813

To be fair, it would have probably been impossible to have him reload an SAA lightning fast with one hand in the movie, not without some CGI bullshit anyway.

I spose this at least is a bit of middle ground.
>>
>>81059726

>people pretend the original it was good

i remember watching it a while back. it turned out to be shit
>>
>>81078287
Then you would know you are talking out of your ass.
>>
What's the reading order for the dark tower related stuff? Read a few orders but they're all different.
>>
>>81067523
>we haven't even seen Skarsgard actually talking yet outside of *autistic schreeching*
That's kinda my main problem with it. Pennywise is supposed to be seductive and charismatic in that first scene.
>>
>>81059726
You're surprised? This movie was behind the creepy clown phenomenon/marketing campaign from last year where people were played to dress as clowns and freak people out. Shilling on a message board in nothing.
