Japanese don't have a problem with white washing because their country isn't in the west. They have their own domestic film industry where they create their own shit movies and butcher manga adaptions.

The problem in the west, is that you have roles that were written for basically Asian characters, and they get turned white, meaning the huge amounts of Asian actors struggling in Hollywood, miss out on a role that could be a break for them, it also plays up racism, that white people, only want to watch white people.

Personally, I think the white washing problem here is stupidly overblown, but it is a problem in shit like that Tom Cruise Samurai movie or whatever.
