Ennio Morricone is by far the best music composer in Hollywood's history. Prove me wrong.

He's pretty good, so are Alan Silvestri and Basil Poledoris

meh Nino Rota and Basil Poleudoris are pretty good too...
by the way here in Italy Morricone everyone that study italian composers knows that Morricone is the first to be ashamed from his so-called Hollywood composer career...this man studied and worked with the some of the best contemporary/modern composers (Petrassi, Evangelisti) and the very best he could do is pleasing retarded Hollywood audience and some movie director...no wonder why the last work for Tarantino was literally just an early piece of music that he re-arranged for some winds.
if you look at the pic you will see for sure the sadness in his eyes...
>at mall
>here music without lyrics
>like the song but resigned I'll never know what it was
>that night a profile of morricone on tv

That's old age taking its toll.

He said he hated doing Django Unchained, then the press made it into a big deal like he was directly insulting Tarantino so he had to apologize for his comment and do another QT score to set the rabid Tarantino fanboys at ease.

Man that's like a death sentence to an artist

He didn't say he hated doing it. He said he didn't like the violence and the way that Tarantino uses music tracks. (mainly the abrupt cutting)
Media did overblow the whole thing though.

And a lot of the best writers in film history had contempt for cinema. A lot of them were failed /lit/ writers who did hack jobs for easy money. But some genuine masterpieces came out of that, with the right directors.
Luciano Vincenzoni, writer on The Good, The Bad & The Ugly, didn't like the film, and had contempt for Leone because he wasn't well-read enough. He didn't understand that film was a visual medium.
Morricone made A LOT of scores, a lot of them mediocre lazy jobs, but I'm sure he's proud of his best ones. His work with Leone is amazing.
Fun fact: they were in school together.

Basil Poledoris have a few good ones. But Silvestri is a hack.

Agreed on Rota and Poledouris. I'd put Herrmann, Goldsmith, Rozsa, Badalamenti and Williams even though he's a bit of a hack all above Morricone. Oh, and Alfred Newman and Victor Young as well.
