Why is this movie so overrated
>>81028930
Agree, it's overrated because it was so seminal. Its way more important than it is good. It's kinda boring too. No one had done a film as conceptual, as visually compelling and sonically awesome> Vangelis made the movie LEGENDARY. the new one is def going to be super Twee it's got Ryan Cucksling in it and is destined to be nostalgia crap
It's the only good cyberpunk film to ever exist. (animes don't count).
The writing and acting ranges from average to really bad most of the time, yet fans practically cum in their pants over it. The only great thing about Blade Runner that most people can agree on is its technical merits.

Robocop........... Videodrome....... Existenz (the videodrome unofficial sequel) and BURST CITY, japanese film, (not an anime) are INCREDIBLE Masterpieces of Cyberpunk.

THE BOOK'S BETTER!

It's not even cyberpunk. Too old for being cyber punk. Computers were not a thing back then. You can call it futuristic though, but computers or cybernetics are not important in the movie. Cyberpunk movies are Strange Days, Johnny Mnemonic, The Matrix... Not Blade Runner though
ITT: plebs fail to understand muh final cut

because people think visuals > writing even though that's wrong

It's napkino but after seeing the scene where you can see the big hole showing his jeans under in his space suit I dropped it. Hopefully the new one is better.

In a visual medium nothing is more important than visuals.

But it really isnt. Its one of dicks weakest novels. It meanders and focuses too heavily on the religion machines.
It is unironically one of my favourite films but I have no qualms in admitting that Harrison Ford sleepwalks his way through the entire film, and that there isn't really a single character to relate to the entire film.

The book is incredibly boring. Took me several days to finish it because I couldn't read more than 2-3 chapters in one sitting.

What a great argument, not anecdotal at all.
