I like S.A.C. 1st/2nd Gig & S.S.S. more than the original G.I.T.S. film, Innocence was also superior in my opinion, even if only for Basset Hound & Batou. I'm too much of a beach to see this adaptation for fear of shuddering at its bastardisation of the source material. I seem like a hipster, probably, and maybe am one, but I really would prefer that hollywood would wholly stop trying to adapt Japanese intellectual properties altogether already.

Batou is a much more interesting character than the major, unfortunately, he's not the primary protagonist.
Most members of Section 9 along with most episodic characters in S.A.C., are more intriguing than her, honestly.
Jungle Cruise and AG20 are Batoukino.

The plot was extremely bland, and that was probably the best part about the movie. The pacing was all over the place and the ost was forgettable. also the humor was really poorly handled. Every time someone tried doing, or saying, something humorous I wanted to turn off the movie.

I've seen SAO and read RPO. The actual plots to the two are nothing alike in their entirety. The only similarity is the VR element, which is markedly different in itself (SAO implants it in your mind while RPO just is a pair of goggles). SAO has more in common with Spy Kids 3 than it does that.

What really annoyed me watching the latest trailer is that they're probably going to try and show the main cast as the "good" guys. In reality, GitS world is very much dystopia where plebs have no rights or privacy. The main team are basically just an anti-terrorist type of an organisation that don't have to follow any rules. In the TV series, there was an episode about how they went after some dude just because he had a dream of killing some politician.

I am conflicted. Oshii's film is one of my favourite ever but I nourish a WHITE HOT HATRED of the GITS fanbase which comes mainly from the TV series. I got semi-hyped for this movie, so I decided to read the manga. Not gonna lie, I have no fucking clue what is happening. The translation seems stiff, the plot aimless, and the art crowded.
