do they even make live action family movies anymore?
small soldiers is mine

This was one of them, that's for sure. I also loved the wizard. I still kinda like it now actually.
>people actually had taste this shit as a kid

I watched it recently for the first time since I was a kid.
Hollywood would never have the guts to make such an edgy children's movie today. Suicide by hanging in the first minute. Kids joking about penises and sex dungeons and bullying the retarded fat kid. Main kid wants to fuck the girl in the caves.
Also holy shit those kids are so obnoxious, they never stop screaming and yelling for no reason.
Did not enjoy the movie much, liked the first third the best. After it turns into Indiana Jones it's just dumb. When they got to the pirate ship I just turned it off.

I finally watched The Goonies. It was terrible. It was just a succession of every cheeseball 80's cliche.
I take it people just like it on pure nostalgia?

Had a similar reaction to Gremlins. Still entertaining, but doesn't hold up quite as well as I remember.
But then there are movies like Ghostbusters which are still just as good.

I actually watched Gremlins recently too and enjoyed it much more, I think because of the fact that it's much better written and more creative, and isn't full off annoying kids. Of course Ghostbusters is a timeless classic.
>watched Goonies as a kid
>boring shit
>watched it as an adult
>still boring shit
In a decade filled with great kids films I don't know why this turd is even remembered.

This and the first one probably captured my imagination the most back then.
>>80958941
One of my favorites. Still holds up.

Labyrinth, Willow, Dragonheart, Neverending Story.
Fantasy then wasn't at all like fantasy now. LotR was the last nail on the coffin, a combination of the last great fantasy movie and the first CG fantasy shitfest.
I fucking love tLotR, but I also had to admit that it moved fantasy to a less dreamy and practical effects fantasy, to a more dark and serious and CG infested fantasy.

Back to the future, Ghostbusters, Labyrinth (the making doco was fascinating too)

What will the unavoidable reboot look like?
Pure Kino
>>80959447
I watched Gremlins the same night and liked it slightly better. But yeah, 80's movies really don't hold up. Even Indiana Jones is super cheesy and dumb by today's standards.

Not overtly self aware and ironic enough for you?

Titan A.E.

Are you implying the Goonies is shit? You must be a shit 90s kid or 00s kid.
>>80958941
>kids movie
>The Goonies
Jerk alert!
