hopefully we'll have more diversity(not that kind) in superhero movies. dark, serious, violent r-rated stuff like logan, mythological religious stuff like MoS/BvS, silly fun schlocky stuff like guardians/hopefully ragnarok, etc.

it's a genre that has a lot of narrative potential, you can take superhero stories in a bunch of different directions. what ultimately matters is that the films being made are creative and original, not cookie-cutter corporate products.

I can't tell what the state of the superhero genre will be in five years, but DC will regret having put all their eggs in the Zack Snyder basket for a long time.

Would you prefer the biggest thing in popculture today be completely dominated by "just for fun" popcorn movies with no depth, seriousness or greater moral/social/political themes?

not everything should be BvS, but not everything should be fucking avengers either.

BvS was shallow garbage with the illusion of depth. It built up the titular conflict for 2 hours, and then threw it aside to have the Justice League fight a goblin. I would take a passable action movie with little depth over the failure that was BvS, which was 3 hours long and completely felt rushed at the same time.

The hack writers and director made the movie needlessly long and grim, threw in references to gods, and put in commercials for the other JL heroes with no context or bearing on the plot. The central conflict made little sense and was discarded so Snyder could make Superman fake-die.

I'll take endless quips, stupid dancing, and a lighthearted tone over the garbage that was Dawn of Justice any day.
