All the ratings are fake. They made Jimmy king of late night because they wanted to bring in the young crowds. Once Jimmy refused to bow down to political shit they ousted him and put Colbert on top.

Trump is a comedy goldmine, look at SNL's ratings, they're killing it

He's a joke and a license to print money for late night. Fallon needs to step it up, he's deliberately apolitical and it is hurting him

Whatever, it's not like anyone who watches these shows is being redpilled or whatever, it's just for laughs anyways

Colbert is now the Daily Show. Daily Show viewers abandon South African host in favor of much funnier Colbert.

Liberals have a lot of outlets for their political bent but they love Colbert the most as long as Stewart is gone.

This is also an attack on Fallon for failing to attack Trump when he appeared as a guest before the election so they will try to bury him.

>>
>>80863171
I've hated Fallon with a burning passion ever since he showed his stupid face on SNL (he IMO marked SNL's jump of the cliff in terms of quality).
In terms of latenight, Fallon is better than Colbert and Meyers. I generally find the three of them intolerable but at least Fallon has found something he's somewhat decent at and is politically neutral.

Conan and Ferguson are the best right now with that fatty boy brit in 3rd. I don't even care if they get somewhat political (but they aren't full on Colbert levels of idiocy either) they are just better comedians.

>>80863205
SNL's political comedy hey day was during the Bill Clinton Administration. By far.

No. But Slander and Libel against the President should actually be enforced and dealt with harshly.
Everyone gets protection from slander and libel by the constitution and there have been more than a few occasions where th media playing fast and loose has tred on Slanderous/libelous territory.

Biggest case in point - flat out making shit up

>>

Trump in numerous stump speeches specifically stated that he was going to repeal Obamacare on Day 1. Now we all know at this point that Trump can't be taken literally on anything but repealing Obamacare was a major part of his personal platform and one of the things that drew people to him. It isn't banking on emotion to use his own words against him.

It's republicans tiptoeing around cutting an entitlement.
Entitlement spending is killing the country, but they also percieve cutting such to be political suicide. At this point it's better to go balls to the wall slash and burn gut fucking everything. They'll lose the majority within 4 years either way. Gut all of it, start cutting government and drop taxes off the cliff and let a reborn economy speak for itself.
That kind of thing requires intestinal fortitude and the knowledge that a few skulls will need to be cracked. But the alternative is the USA keeps spiraling down the shitter, we lose the congress/senate anyway and we're a full socialist state by 2024 before total collapse in 2030

Objectively bad SJW comedians like (((Amy Schumer))) get movie deals and gigs up the wazoo when there are several actually great female comedians who aren't Sarah Silverman and who get fuck all.
There is not a single right wing political comedy show on network or premium TV outside of FOX news and the only one even touching on right wing ideas recently was strangled in the crib.
There has been an opening for an idealogical opposite to Bill Maher for YEARS. Showtime could have easily made a right wing comedy show to take on Maher and they could have made hand over fist for a few seasons. There has always been a demand for right wing political commentary comedy - something a lighter and easier to digest than fucking traditional Right Wing Media.

Not allowing right wing viewpoints their place in the sun, not giving them a chance, just ends up in less people consuming media, less people paying for media, I mean I could go on.
It's no fucking surprise Bill Maher hasn't had a competiting show on the opposite political spectrum in 15+ years, because McDonald was strangled in the crib post his SNL career

Jimmy Fallon is the most politically neutral talk show host there is on television, and he STILL got skewered by the media when he didn't sperg out on Trump. They're at the point now where even total moderates are too far right for them to want them to have a platform.
>>
>>80865787
He riffed the Clintons because they, believe it or not, Bill was in office and Hillary was the first lady. Kind of like weekend update has done since the beginning. But nah, I guess you think everyone hates Frank Stallone and David Hasselhoff too, since they were also frequent punchlines.

>drooling brain dead liberal viewers actually think people Stephen Colbert is on their side
Colbert is probably just as wealthy as Trump is. Its just baffling how people say Trump shouldn't be president because he was on a reality show but they un-ironically would vote for Stephen Colbert.

You can't make this shit up
>>
>>80866381
Providing for the common defense is enshrined in the constitution, but I can agree we need to get military spending down (by cutting waste, telling the navy "no fuck off" for once, and stopping the stupid shit like 4000 dollars for a bolt when the same shit costs .89 in Harbor Freight).
Military Spending is at least more flexible - it expands and contracts according to political will and other factors.
Obama himself cut a few billion of the top of military spending.
Entitlement spending is inflexible, spending never goes down, it always goes up.
You can't even cut entitlements in a fucking recession (as we saw) when the .gov is trillions in debt. The .mil is much easier to cut
>>
>>80866588
What's the point of winning the popular vote if don't also win the electoral vote and become president? I mean, at best, that's really a consolation prize. It's consoling to the loser, but at the end of the day, they're still the loser and not president.

I mean, maybe I don't get it because I'm not an American but it seems like if you run for president your main goal is to become president, not to merely get a lot of votes, and if you fail at doing that, you're a failure. And if you fail against a joke candidate like Trump who was given like a 1% chance to win, you're an even bigger failure.

I watched them when they aired. He mostly just did "Bill wants to get rid of frumpy bitch Hillary" jokes. Must be a big reason why Bill Clinton left office with one of the highest approval ratings since they've been recorded.

Problem with Obama is he there's very little to work with. He doesn't act goofy or talk in a funny voice, nor did he really do anything very risky or radical while in office, his party affiliation not withstanding.

He was spearheading the single greatest violation of the 4th amendment in our nation's history. ANYONE with political conviction could have made an issue out of the NSA, and nobody wanted to. He sold weapons to the cartels and financed ISIS amongst many other things.
There was plenty of material to use, they just didn't because he was on their side.

Since this thread is about comedy, try writing good jokes about those things. Better yet write eight years worth of jokes on that.

It's a lot easier just bringing out Darrell Hammond or Will Farrell and do an exaggerated parody on the way they talk and little mannerism. They tried that with Obama and it bombed. Blame the writers if you want but he just didn't make good source material.

They never made jokes about the PATRIOT ACT before, so they weren't gonna do it when Obama continued to escalate Bush's shit. Besides do you lads in this thread seriously expect comedians to do serious satire on television that points out to actual policy problems in a nuanced manner? Most of the time they just tell stupid jokes about the president's mannerisms, and nowadays when they do go after news, its only slightly more distilled than the shit they spew on the regular news

>>80869185
Fuckign god damn hell, Gorsuch was voted in 100-0 by fuckign Hillary and Biden in 2006. Imbeciles
>>
>>80869096
They legitimately think Trump is only weeks away from being impeached or something.
The dems are retarded for playing like 60% of their cards already.
>>
>>80862907
I still don't know how james corden got a gig as a late night american chat show host
how the fuck did that happen?
>>
>>80869088
Economy is doing pretty damned fucking good right now to start predicting 2018 for the dems.
They are expending all of their political capitol now as hard as they can and he's just 3 months into office.

Like I said earlier can you remember the last time a filibuster was actively carried out against a supreme court nominee? Because the dems are doing it. I mean ffs Kagan and Sotomayor got hard questioning but Ted fucking Cruz didn't get up there and filibuster the whole thing because he was pissy that a nigger was in the white house.

And the judges thing is over the top and all it's going to do is bring forth untold amounts of ire on the dems.

At the end of the day people with money in their pocket are going to vote for status quo or more of the same, ie more republicans.
Trumps primary concern is rightfully the economy, it and infrastructure are the most important issues bar none and both have tangible rewards that people can take to the bank

This is what is going to fuck the dems if they don't play their cards right.
Any american who has any sort of investments is doing pretty well right now. Old people with their eye on retirement are going to vote for whatever keeps their funds nice and happy.
>>
>>80869218
They pushed it too hard. They convinced the dumb lefties to believe there truly was Russia under it all.

Now, the MSM has to feed them more Russia stories, and any attempt from them to say ''guys, maybe there was no actual russian interference'' those retard would just see it as a betrayal and cut them off.

Elaborate. They can keep doing this till 2018
>>
>>80869218
New cards are being dealt every day with Trump.
>>
>>80869218
>60%
Try 90%

There is little ground these judges stand on to begin with. This shit is going to the supreme court, it will be fastracked faster than fuck when Gorsuch makes it in. It would have been better to keep protesting at airports because stopping the revised travel ban is tantamount to political suicide.
The Supreme Court is watching and it does not like what it sees, the Congress and Senate are watching and they don't like what they see, the Executive is fuming.
The Judicial branch will come under a review the likes of which we have not seen in our lifetimes. Everything involving the appointment of judges to the (lifelong) retention of judges will come into question. Shit not explicitly writ in the constitution, like federal district court judges will come into play.
>>
>>80869249
Did you mean for the repub?, if so i agree.

Especially since Trump can go hard on immigration, and it's a subject where he wins, easily. Outside sanctuary cities/Cali/New York it get's him vote, and none of those would have voted for a repub anyway. If he paces his card well trump could have FULL power in 2018

Hell, if Nunes/Mongomery stuff come forward and proves that surveillance was ordered by O, it would break the wings of the left right now

So a strong man executes poorly made military missions?

Yeah. I'm about as leftist as they come, but the second I see/hear that stupid name, I'm compelled to disregard anything that follows. There are innumerable real issues to criticize, absurdities to laugh at, but they're gonna run with this "1980s middle school bully desperately looking for any barb to sling and feeling smug for coming up with a dumb nickname to chant on the bus" thing.

The money in my pocket is more important than the ideas in your head - said every American ever.

People with jobs, money and prospects are going to go out of their way to maintain that status quo
People who grew up with no jobs, money or prospects and who now have them will downright kill someone trying to fuck that up.

Tangible economic gains benefit everyone except the worthless, and the worthless only make up a small part of the voter base

No it isn't, approval ratings have been pretty accepted for a long time. There's a world of difference between an approval rating and a prediction of who will win the election.

No poll directly measures chances to win. They measure voter intent.

The national polls were accurate within the error margins. But i am sure it is too easy to mislead people on a question of whether they approve of DJT presidency or not.
>>
>>80869581
In presidential elections an error of 2-3% polling can mean the difference between victory and defeat. In popularity numbers it is just that. A small error.

Now you're left claiming that the popularity numbers have a 10% error in them for some reason.

>>
>>80869608
The president doesn't have the operational control over missions you think he has. The most he would do for an op like that is give the green light. He doesn't execute anything and any deliberate plans he gets well before the execution of an operation are kept vague and brief because operational security is paramount and that shit passes through too many lines of communication from SOCOM to the Prez's desk.
More intricate details, or hell even the entire mission, aren't given to president until the unit is on station.

One reason why Obama preferred Drones so much is because there is a greater degree of strategic control (ie at the presidential level) over a drone. A president can watch a drone feed, he can talk to the drone operator, he can even sit there and ask him to adjust the target ffs.

A Commando/SEAL raid is an entirely different story. You say go, if you are even given a chance to at all (you won't if it's a designated warzone in a country we are at war with), and the rest is out of your hands
>>
>>80869653
True, but trying to deflect and blame Obama for an operating that Trump executed is beyond logical.

>>80869740
He got off easy because he was black and charming. He was also fucking horrible for transparency and lied a fuckton about what he'd do in office.

>>80869855
>state a factual poi the
>"lol nice try cuck but I'm going to ignore those points and just call you a loser :)"

Not an argument, friend. Neither Trump or Obama will be seen as good presidents. Granted people are being super critical on Trump, but he does have a lot of power to work with.
>>
>>80869968
We can't predict how Trump will be seen yet, it's only month 3.

Liberals were almost as fucking furious as this when Reagan stole the presidency out from under Carters useless ass. Obv. Reagan is far from perfect but he was a better prez than the yokel before him and the 3 clowns after him
>>
>>80870066
Correction 4 clowns
>>
>>80869924
Obama preferred drones because they minimized US soldier deaths and made him look better, he also changed what counted as a civilian to make his dronings look better too.

Still, at the end of the day Trump thought the operation was a good idea and it yielded nothing good.
>>
>>80865555

The more he makes good on promises, the more the hysteria will grow.
>>
>>80870066
Reagan was pretty horrible and the right deifies him, so "how he's seen" is kind of an irrelevant term overall.
>>
>Bush
>Clinton

Can we just thank Obama and Trump for destroying the last vestiges of hereditary presidential ascension?

>Jeb wont get it
>Jebs son wont get it
>Other Bush bro won't get it

>Chelsea won't get it

Both the Bushes and Clintons have fuck else that can stand a chance at the presidency. I'm fairly certain these two families will go the way of the Roosevelts now and fuck off forever

yes i think most people do not want political dynasties. watch out for trumps kids cause i dont think they're going away anytime soon.

>>
>>80870216
>trust fund kids becoming president

Ivanka might stand a chance, everyone else would get laughed off the stage.

>>80870175
That's also a major factor as to why Clinton lost. She only got that far because of her husband anyways.
>>
>>80870132
The old reaganites are rightfully a dying breed. The neocon cuckasaurus rex will be extinct by 2020.

Reagan had lots of good and lots of bad.
I'm hard right and even I don't deny it.
The fact that he was a better president than Carter, Bush Sr, Clinton, Bush Jr., and Obama isn't anything special.
I think Gerald Ford and Nixon were better presidents than Reagan for example.
And IMO I really think Bill Clinton was just about on par with Reagan in terms of presidencies.
I despise him for NAFTA but my bias is political. Bill Clinton was the best democratic president post JFK
>>
>>80870265
>eccentric billionaire real estate tycoon becoming president

its all about the message
>>
>>80870216
I got my eye on Ivanka and I don't necessarily like what I see. She has political aspirations beyond her brothers, who are more concerned with what personally effects them politically and are much more concerned with the business.
I don't care if they want a swing at the house, the senate, or even a governorship. I just don't like the idea of them forming another dynasty in the oval
>>
>>80870265
Ivanka could try in the 2020's but odds are the right is going to be a lot more hard right at that time, even outright anti feminist. She won't get nominated, she'll be too centrist
>>
>>80870351
Trump won because he wasn't the establishment, but his kids will be establishment once his presidency is over. Plus, it's likely that he'll win 2 terms and then the country will swing center left. That shits been happening for 100 years or so.

>>80870495
I doubt that, the right is always happy to push a black or a woman who touts their message.
>>
>>80870101
And then tried to shield himself by saying you can't criticize him or the operation because an US soldier died and that makes it tremendously disrespectful. Despite a former POW, and the chairman of the Arms Services committee, i.e. McCain, being one of the most vocal people criticizing the White House.
>>
>>80870101
>Which is disingenuous

First Trump literally had just taken office, and he gave the go ahead on a mission the military was putting forward.

Not every mission is based on the same intel, your putting it forward as if blowing away everything with drones would have been a better option.

Obama had 90 percent civilian casualties because of drone strikes. I get that sevice mens lives matter, but you have to have a balance between blowing people away from 30 miles away with impunity, and being determines enough to take risks for bigger rewards and lower collateral.
>>
>>80870827
I agree with you, I'm just saying that saying Trump is free of guilt here is silly at best.
>>
>>80870734
McCain is a faggot though

literally the establishment everyone voted trump in to get rid of

Non-American civilians. Unskilled non-American civilians who cost less than one 10th of a SEAL to produce and maintain over their operational service life. Unless Switzerland suddenly gains the manpower and capability to arrest nations for breaking their pretend laws, it just makes economic sense to be risking them over losing ground troops doing things the conventional way.
