It's not a good movie, but it didn't have any business being as good as it was.

The tone is all over the place, but it works for whatever it's trying to do. The CG isn't embarrasing and the plot when it comes to the characters themselves is refreshingly low stakes, the power rangers shit of course is ridiculous.

The fights aren't either good or bad, and the forced diversity isn't very forced either. The nigger is an autist, which is mainly used for comic relief and the spic is a lesbian, which is a throwaway line anyways.

Rita si fucking terrible, hands down the worse thing about the movie. Bad acting, bad costume and bad scripting. Possibly had some sort of relationship with Zordon in the inevitably deleted scenes.

If you are neither then you will hate it. The one thing I agree with is that the Zords were too "busy" in their designs. Throughout the entire time I could never make out what I was looking at. Even right now I can remember anything but the pink flying one and the TREX one but that's it. The rest didn't resemble any ancient animals. They were too alien. Goldar sucked, just a giant gold monster. But I guess they can throw in only so much. The putties were a waay better upgrade from what we were all used to. This Rita was good and also a huge upgrade as well from the original one. Also, making her the Green Ranger was kind of neat as well. Beyond that I give this movie an 7.5/10.

Also, I really liked the credits said "Based on Super Sentai" instead of "mighty morphing power rangers"

The director explained/hand waved the Zords looking how they do.
The zords have a default form we dont see in the movie and they take the appearance of the strongest beasts on the planet they are on.
It was easy enough for the red zord to become a trex as it was already a biped. However the black zords default structure is a fast eight legged tank, it didnt lose 4 legs when it became a mastadon as it would fuck up its mobility or whatever.

Also gives them a REALLY easy way to change zords in later films. Heck MMPR actually had the Mastadon and Lionzord the same robot kinda
