I was already burnt out after The Force Awakens. How long can this go on? Rogue One did REALLY well but it was still proof that not literally every person who saw one Star Wars will see another. When people have been put through another trilogy, a spinoff about the Death Star blueprints, a Han Solo prequel, a solo Boba Fett, and God knows what else, when's enough gonna be enough for them and they just stop going?

While the prequels were absolutely dogshit awful, they did do a few things right when it comes to continuing a franchise. The prequels tell a very different story than the OT. The focus is on the Anakin character and the plot is a political drama rather than straightforward adventure. Sure there were lots of nods to the old movies, but they didn't dominate the entire movies. The problem was that that character was terrible and the political plot didn't make any sense and weren't properly explained.

TFA is by almost all metrics a better movie than any of the prequels, but it may end up hurting the franchise more since it only wants to milk the originals for nostalgia instead if expanding the universe.
