Movies are considered fun activities for the whole family to enjoy. If you have 3 kids and you want to unwind over the weekend, the only time when everyone's free, you take them to see whatever shitty superhero or cartoon movie that's playing and then spend 50 bucks on popcorn and drinks for everyone. They don't want to risk destroying their kids fragile minds so they have to watch a G or PG movie for everyone to enjoy.

Video games are for nerds and losers and are only played by yourself or with other weirdos online. It's okay if they see violence and sex in a game because they're already broken.

Almost all current NFL players grew up on Madden. Same for other sports. Many people in the tech industry are making video game apps. Actors have hobbies outside of making movies. Most people in their late 30s to mid 20s have touched a mobile game or played solitaire on their computer. They're not raiding in an MMO every weekend, but they do play games here and there.
