His best material isn't good because it's edgy, it's good because they're perfect anti-jokes. He sets it up and then subverts the obvious punchline in a way that's surprising and funny - he doesn't really need to be "edgy" to do that.

You ever see his early work he did before he really found his voice? He used to be in a comedy duo with Jonah Ray called Cops Brought Pizza. Super funny stuff, it was more silly than edgy. I think he's pretty much erased all traces of it from the internet unfortunately.
