I don't even speak Japanese, I just know how to sub. I have that cut down WEBrip and a full length CAM copy from the Funimation run. As long as the CAM copy is legible, which it apparently is, I should be able to fill in the gaps from the WEBRip subs with that.

For the small budget and short production schedule, the effects look fine most of the time. Reminder that the filmmakers were literally working up until the last second and had to divide the workload between multiple studios in order to complete it in time. Thus the inconsistent quality.

Plus, they only had like half of the original allotted time because there wasn't supposed to be so much CGI. Anno didn't like how the puppet scenes were turning out and the effects team had to basically start from scratch midway through production.
