>Who am I missing?
Nothing much, just the best directors, you know, Ford, Altman, Wilder, Huston, Cassavettes, Hawks, Peckinpah, Fuller, Sturges etc
>>80719562
etc is a really underrated director. I think his films are too deep for most people.
Orson Welles
John Ford
Howard Hawks
Michael Mann
Jules Dassin
Samuel Fuller
Nicholas Ray
John Huston
Clint Eastwood
Don Siegel
Robert Altman

Ford is so overrated. I'm sure his films were groundbreaking for the time but they have dated horribly.

>Nothing much, just the best directors, you know, Ford, Altman, Wilder, Huston, Cassavettes, Hawks, Peckinpah, Fuller, Sturges etc
I somehow forgot Altman, Peckinpah, and Cassavettes. I appreciate the other directors, but all of their films are too dated for me to consider them classics.
Van Sant

>but all of their films are too dated for me to consider them classics.
That doesn't make any sense, at what point a classic stop being a classic?
How can someone consider films made by Korine, Wes Anderson, Fincher, Soderbergh and Aronofsky classics? None of these would stand the test of time, they are not even good now
>>80719226
give me the quick rundown
>>80719226
John Carpenter
>>80719226
Zack Snyder
I've only seen pic related

>>80720621
Down By Law, Mystery Train, and Night On Earth is his peak period. Check out any of those.

Sounds cool, I unironically really enjoy Waits in films too so this should be good
whats wrong with Ghost Dog though, I really enjoyed it
Friedkin
>>80719226
Zach Snyder

I don't understand why is Sidney Lumet so underappreciated here on /tv/, he practically shat out constant kinos in his early life and for some reason /tv/ knows him only by 12 Angry Men and Dog Day Afternoon.

>Ford is so overrated
not really
>I'm sure his films were groundbreaking
You're 'sure' of pretty much a non-factor for his greatness; being groundbreaking wasn't Ford's shtick or objective. Saying that only shows you know nothing of his cinema
>they have dated horribly
no. And only plebs think in >dated terms anyway
Good post, champ
