i thought that Russell Crowe fucking looks like shit

It was really inconsistent. Some parts were hilarious, like when March tries to break into a house and nearly dies, or the elevator scene. The actual story is pretty weak and March's kid is unbelievably annoying.

Basically, anything where Gosling and Crowe just do dumb buddy cop stuff was solid and funny. The rest of it, not so much.

I don't think Gosling has any sense of comedic timing. I felt like he was out of his element a bit. His delivery was just off.

Felt really uncomfortable watching the scene where the porno actress and the girl talk about anal sex. It had many little moments like that were inappropriate and normalizing predatory sexual behavior. Definitely won't watch another Shane Black movie with my family again.

He tried his best, but he was inconsistent I thought. There were definitely some scenes I thought he was funny in, but it was typically the more subtle stuff. Most of the time he tried to do the wacky comedy stuff, I thought it totally missed the mark.

He got a lot of praise just because people had super low expectations of him, so the reaction was just like "OMG Ryan Gosling can do comedy?! Who knew?"

I actually really liked it. It was one of my top favorites of last year.

The movie had so many memorable hysterical and quotable moments. Admittedly the plot was more of an excuse to string together all these moments so it suffered there but this is one of the best comedy movie I'd seen in years
