This doesn't make it bad, and exploring things other than the main theme doesn't necessarily make something good, doing something other than "being a superhero movie" gives the audience something else to engage with. All the other netflix superhero shows had that. Luke Cage was about race, Jessica Jones was about rape, consent, and superpowers in the context of, basically, a lifetime movie. Daredevil has been about a couple things, my favorite was the first four eps of season 2, which were about justice versus vengance.

The problem with Iron Fist is that we're supposed to believe that Danny spent 15 years training hardcore at an interdimensional shaolin monastery. But at th drop of a hat you have him throwing tantrums, getting kicked by a generic russian goon, acting like a hollow shell being pushed to do stuff and other similar shit. I mean, wasn't he supposed to be at least a bit enlightened with all that training and meditation? Or was all that only to make his hand glow sometimes and he still come back with the mind of a 10yo naive boy?

Here are my thoughts

I wish we had gotten an Iron Fist movie last year instead of Dr Strange

Dr Strange even had a lot of elements that blatantly reminded me of Iron Fists origin like they were scrapped ideas from a film/script idea. Danny Rands origins are way too fantastical to be contained into a low budget tv show. That was a big mistake.

Either way, Im enjoying the show so far. The characters are much more interesting than any of the other Marvel netflix shows. Its just the action and story is lacking a real punch :^)

I think this version of Iron Fist is going to be best in a team environment and not as a standalone character. Only people like me who have read Immortal Iron Fist will probably even give 2 shits about it

It isn't bad, but it isn't great.

There are many valid complaints with the script, and the dialogue can be cringe worthy at times.

I am sort of confused as to how they dropped the ball so badly on this, when it should have been at least as good as DD.

Luke Cage was fucking terrible, and destined to be terrible from the onset. He isn't that good of a character, particularly since his most prominent attributes are:

Honestly, the character makes sense... kinda.

Snyder obviously cast Eisenberg because of the Social Network, and Lex in BvS is just a parody of Zuckerberg. I get the feeling Snyder doesn't like Zuckerberg for whatever reason (there's plenty of good reasons not to, but we don't know why Snyder might not like him).

The only real problem is that they should have just stuck to the information warfare angle. Sadly they didn't, nor did they show us why Lex is supposed to be intelligent when in the film he's more like Steve Jobs; which is completely the wrong direction to go with Lex.
