joker had nothing to do with kidnapping rachel and dent (he says this explicitly in the film and points out he was in the jail when it happened) so batman is lucky he was able to guess the locations at all! all things considered his information was much more accurate than you would expect from someone unconnected to the kidnappings!

I guess my biggest issue really is the noticeable absence of the Rachel from the first film. I'm glad Batman was able to find a new Rachel friend to replace her, but she didn't really compare to his childhood friend.

Dunno if this is bait or not, but the Joker deduced that Rachel was someone important to Batman after he leaped after her after the Joker pushed her down at that party. He even makes a comment about this as well ("the way you leaped after her..."). He predicted that Batman would choose Rachel over Harvey and intentionally told him the wrong location because he wanted Rachel's last moments to be moments of despair and hurt because Batman chose Harvey over her. You can even see how surprised she is when she hears Batman in Harvey's location over the walkie-talkie because she really was expecting Batman to choose her. And it would torment Batman as well because the woman he loved died thinking he didn't care about her.
