I go every few months, about when the experience of the last visit has faded.

I absolutely loathe going. It's not that it's a bad experience, it's not. I usually went to warren theatre, which is a pretty good cinema, nice art deco and you can tell they put as much effort into it as AMC.

I just can't justify the cost compared to the experience. I don't want to pay $30+ to watch a movie with other people, no matter the flick. It's just not enjoyable.

I'd much rather go out and have a good lunch/dinner, come back back home, stream a good encode from my Plex. My family and I can relax and not deal with all the shit that comes with seeing it on huge screen.

Once, maybe twice a month. Depends on what's playing. Theaters here in Korea are just so fucking nice. I was telling my qt Korean girlfriend today after we saw Kong that theaters and movies in general would be a lot more popular if American theaters just fucking cleaned up.

Korean theaters: reserved seating, ample leg room, plush seats, coat hangars on the seat in front of you, folding trays for your snacks, clean, etc.

America: sticky floors, busted seats, loud patrons, smelly.

Where do you live if your experience is like this?

I guess I might hear a cell phone sounds once every six months or so and I generally go 5 times a month. No one talks during the films (aside from quiet whispers). It's expensive here though, about 12€ per ticket. When I went to see Logan a few weeks ago there was a weird guy talking and laughing to himself, but he left after a couple of minutes. That's probably the worst cinema going experience I've had in the past 15 years or so.

In my country you have a subscription service at the biggest cinema chain, wich means you can go unlimited times (including imax 3D) to the movies for just 26 euros a month. Me and a couple of buddies usually go once, sometimes twice a week

I remember back in the day me and friends would go every Saturday, it didn't matter what was out, we would just go to see something, anything. These days I'm a little more selective in my choices because we ended up seeing a lot of shit - we actually paid to see Bangkok Dangerous, with Nicolas Cage, maybe the worst film I've ever seen in a theatre - so I'll end up going maybe once a month, timetable permitting, perhaps more if there's something I really want to see, sometimes less if there's nothing out I want to see, or if it's something I think I can get away with watching at home at a later date.
