Went through the first three episodes. Imma be honest, I don't see what all the fuss is about. From either end. It's no master piece, not by a long shot, but it's no blunder of the century either. It's pretty average with a few dips higher than average and a few dips lower than average.

I will say the brother (Joy's brother) and their Father are the most interesting things about the show, so far. I also like that even Joy isn't interested in giving him his share of the Company, even though she believes him, and knows that it's technically his. I'm being serious, I legitimately like that they honest to goodness don't want to hand it over to him, no matter his circumstance. It makes sense that two hardcore business people who love their money and privilege wouldn't want to give it up or risk it being endangered somehow.

Dojo girl isn't all that great. Don't like her much. She's cute, but when Danny was showing her, and later the students, some martial arts she flipped out both times. I get she doesn't want him there, I'm fine with that part, it's that she lets him stay there anyways and then bitches when the "crazy hobo guy" does crazy hobo things.

Honestly, what would really improve this series for me is if Danny actual turns out to be a crazy hobo guy with super powers, that he's legitimately delusional about being Danny Rand. That'd be pretty awesome.

Overall, yeah, don't hate it. Just average. A few things above or below average so far. I obviously have more to watch. Willing to see it through though, nothing stands out like a sore thumb yet. Love the Lawyer lady.

Honestly, most martial artists aren't severely built or ripped. They aren't weight lifters. Western martial artists sometimes are, but, they are usually supplementing their preferred martial art with weight lifting, boxing and other bulky body type physical effort. You'll rarely come across masters out in asia who are built and ripped. I like the guy in the show so far. I don't believe his comments about being made to get in shape and bulk up, so I think he's a liar, but as far as the part? What I've seen he's done well. I like the show, in the way you can like a fairly average show with some up points and some down points. While it certainly has its flaws, it does a few things I like too - so I couldn't call it the best thing ever anymore than I could call it the worst thing ever.

I don't think his performance has come off as particularly bad in the few episodes I've seen. Though I can't say it's ever been particularly good either. More inoffensive with a few gems and pitfalls along the way.

Taking day's off into account it would be roughly 800 hours, which isn't really much when you think about it. That also doesn't take into account when they stopped shooting and during shooting so my guess would be more like ~500 hours. That's the equivalent of one month full time. Then you have to take into account how far he actually got with "2.5 hours" of training, he was probably only learning for about an hour and a half of this.

When I was doing Hapkido I would spend 1.5 just getting ready to start doing actual martial arts. Then you take into account learning things like katas, he would have been doing anything.

Also, the rating is basically just a meter of "it meets expectations", so movies that have no reason to be good that punch above their weight get better ratings than great movies that were expected to be the next Citizen Kane.

This goes double for shows.

The fact that everyone expected IF to be DD when it was below it means people will give it a rotten, despite the fact that it's not that attrocious.
