I consider myself a fairly well versed /k/ommando.
I have no fucking idea how G11s work. None. I know that it has three firing modes, safe, automatic, and a stupidly fast three round burst. It uses caseless ammunition that in early trials had a nasty habit of cooking off and making the rifle explode, but that problem got fixed. Its internal mechanisms were so complex that field repairs were impossible, so they designed it so the entire guts of the rifle were all in one quickly replaceable pack. Soldiers were to carry a spare firing group pack and should the rifle ever malfunction, rather then just clear the malfunction they would have to replace the pack and the defective one would be sent to a factory for repair.
Honestly, they performed rather well in trials. Had the Berlin Wall not fallen and the need for new small arms not dissipated, it was fairly likely the G11 would have entered full service in West Germany. The US Army also tested it during the 1990 ACR trials. Alas, while many prototypes were made they never reached full production.

I think that in Unforgiven in that scene where Clint is reminding himself how to shoot he forgets to cock it to keep pretending it's SA once.
DA revolvers were a thing in early 1870's already but they weren't really popular in the frontier.

The russians are trying to make AK's more AR-like, not the other way around
>>80568497
It's a neat gun.
What looks like the trigger actually ONLY cocks the hammer, that little nub in the back of the triggerguard is the trigger that actually drops the hammer. So when you pull, you cock the hammer and then the back of that trigger hits the one that actually fires the gun.
The mechanism apparently kinda sucked, when they made an "improved" 2nd generation of the gun it was literally just the same thing as a normal single-action.

>>80568515
The Russians are currently adding Vatnik Vodka Magic to their AK's with counterbalance and stuff like this(after Communist VM in form of AN-94 failed to gain traction), plus rail systems which is the only AR-like thing in them.
The general difference boils down to this - AR will be more accurate and will keep shit away from the action better, AK will do better with minimal maintenance and WHEN(not if, there's never an if when it comes to it) it jams, you can clear it very quickly and easily(as opposed to the AR where there's like 50 common malfunctions and some of them require at least partial disassembly).
The reputation AR has comes from 1. teething problems(lack of chrome-lining in chamber for instance) 2. initially they were bought without cleaning tools(because it was a stop-gap rifle at first, then the project meant to deliver the real next gen rifle flopped, generally speaking since the rifle didn't come from any arsenal it was hated by the military, after the inquiry for the whole debacle arsenals were shut down) 3. they've changed the powder causing some problems related to timing, which required adding some buffer to the bolt carrier, redesigning gas block a little etc 4. Fudd lore, both in the ordnance(ADD FORWARD ASSIST OR ELSE - forward assist serves only to jam the rifle harder when it jams), and the shitspouting retards - things like "M14 was great, maintenance-light and reliable while M16 wasn't" being a great example of spouting literal shit.

SVDs are incredibly rare in the US. To have someone use one in an assassination would imply certain implications about the shooter and who they work for.

one's fascination with the inner machinations of special effects and prop production in the moving picture production industry would cause a noticable sense of awe, if only one's knowledge were increaaed with regards to the effort, creativity, industriousness, and thrift of the parties involved.
