He's the polar opposite of Bill Watterson. He sold out immediately and completely, because he knew Garfield was vapid garbage anyway. In the 80s Garfield shit was everywhere, every mug, every stuffed animal, every conceivable merchandise. They did spinoffs every possible way imaginable and it was all done by ghost authors with Davis "supervising."
