Rey IS a Mary Sue, just because she has a tragic backstory doesn't mean she can just go around mastering abilities at the first try. Shit like climbing, mechanics or fighting with a long weapon is the kind of thing I could see her doing without giving a fuck since she has been shown to do so in her day to day routine.
However knowing how to do a mind trick HOURS after she just learn that the Force is real and she is indeed a Jedi is a problem and some of the reasons people call her Mary Sue.
For fuck sake she is even canonically the Awakening of the Force acording to the nu-EU.
