No. It was good. It was okay. But it was still pretty boring, pointless and not all that special.

The only issue with the opening was the lighting, apart from that it was pretty damn good.
To say it was boring is hyperbole.
It establishes the setting, aims of the characters and tone of the film as a "musical" so that rules out pointless.
As for it not being 'special' that's a bit too vague.
