John Goodman is the soul survivor of a monster attack, and it is covered by the goverment

-1946
Monarch is founded

While the 43 incident probably had a hand in the creation of Monarch, it is worth to note that Monarch was founded prior to the 54 Godzilla incident.

-1954
The first Godzilla incident

-1973
Kong Skull Island
It is mentioned of old cave paintings portraying Godzilla, Rodan, Ghidorah, Mothra

-1999
Meltdown in Japan

-2014
Godzilla

While the 43 incident probably had a hand in the creation of Monarch, it is worth to note that Monarch was founded prior to the 54 Godzilla incident.

Question is what was it that forced the foundation of Monarch, and what attacked in 1943 and if it will be brought back up?

Tie-in comic to Godzilla 2014, Godzilla Awakening.

The bomb at Hiroshima woke up a colonial organism MUTO called Shinomura and Godzilla started hunting him across the Pacific, with Monarch following them. The Bikini Atoll effort was an attempt at killing them both, though only the Shinomura died.

Of course, comic and the film don't entirely line-up in the end, but it's something.

Ghidora is Godzillia's arch nemesis. Unlike Godzillia who will "protect" humans, Ghidora has always hated them. I wouldn't be surprised if the first incident wad cause by Ghidora because what ever attacked the cruiser killed all but one person aboard. Remember Godzillia tends to ignore ships (unless attacked). Also it's stated in teh Godzilla 2014 movie that he DIDN'T WAKE UP until after WWII.

2014 Godzilla was a 100 minute cocktease with maybe 20 minutes of actual kaiju substance

that alone docks it 20%

It's deck was clawed up too. Also how could a monster have killed all but one person on board if it didn't use some kind of power to get at the crew deep inside the ship? Mothra and Rodan are out because they have no projecting weapons to do so. Godzilla is also out because if he had used his atomic breath then the ship would have heavily irradiated and everyone, including John Goodman's character would have died in a matter of seconds. Not to mention the ship would have been partially melted. This only leaves Ghidora who's lightning attacks could kill many without irradiating the ship and could still possibly leave someone alive.

It's just fucking retarded that there is only one survivor on a ship attacked by a monster where the ship doesn't look like this. Somebody fucked up with the story.

I'll say that the only thing that supports the King Ghidorah claim is the lack of apparent damage, but it is still damaged below the water where KG would have just flown about zapping it.

>>
>>80433955
Where he drags his feet through the water to attack ships? I'm struggling to think of a scene in any film outside of the Mothra films where he is even in water at all.

I would have liked a flash back scene for Goodman's character, you know where he's on the ship in a storm with lightning and then maybe you hear something roar and then a flash of light. Perhaps at the end of the move they could have had that as he explained to Hiddleston and Brie about Monarch and the other monsters. That would have been really great!

But instead Goodman died in a bizarre scene for no fucking reason to the detriment of the plot.

What is with this franchise and killing off all of the important plot characters, it's fucking stupid!
>>
>>80434001
>Legendary's version isn't agressive at all towards humans

I'm not a godzilla expert, was he ever aggressive towards humanity excluding the first movie?

I guess what they are going with according to the post credit scene in Skull Island, is that Godzilla and the other monsters where on earth since the dawn of days, and Godzilla is like a protector of humanity in some ways, a literal God

No, some of the movies are a cocktease of epic proportions, but that's if you're looking for monstershit. Most pre-1985 films can be fucking fun in a cheesy sci-fi way, while most post-1985 are fun for kaiju fights/side characters and tone.

If you want to watch one, watch "GMK giant monsters all out attack" it's fucking ridiculously fun.

He's right faggot. Godzilla awoke before getting nuked in 1954
>>
>>80434173
In the canon movies where he fights of monsters attacking humanity for some reason, he tends to ignore humans more or less (unless directly attacked by humans). There are other non-canon movies where he is the villain and does directly attack humans.

>>80434173
Godzilla is the protector of the Earth, not necessarily of humanity. I guess you could say Legendary's Godzilla is more like Gamera.

Basically he always attacked military when he was provoked, except when he was a good guy in the late Showa era

In G2014 he didn't retaliate in any way, just avoiding them
>>
>>80434173
through the 4th movie he was the villain until the 5th movie when Tohos other monsters (rodan and Mothra) teamed up to fight King Ghidorah in the Showa era movies

Heisei era movies he's pretty aggressive until the later movies when he picked up Jr.

The millinuem era movies its a mixed bag, some he's just a wild animal protecting his territory one he's literally evil incarnte, another he's a godamn superhero
>>
So how are they going to fit Rodan, Mothra, Godzilla, and King Ghidorah in one movie? Or is it going to be Kong vs Godzilla next?

Cave painting monster is King Ghidorah, godzilla's arch nemesis. Anon is implying ghidorah was woken up by the nagasaki bombings and godzilla rose up to fight him. Don't think that'll be the case because ghidorah is crazy strong, it usually takes a few kaiju to beat him and the cave paintings show rodan and mothra as well, two kaiju who tend to fight with godzilla.

In japan godzilla is a lot like wolverine. Ornery and bitter, but ultimately on our side, with a few exceptions (54, raids again, vs king kong, GMK, shin)

thing about Toho properties is they never let any company use their shit without explicit final approval for everything their monsters do.

In the 90's they actually let Darkhorse comics use Godzilla with a mostly free reigh but then turned around and wanted to charge them retarded fees to use any other Toho monster and then get hurtburt when Darkhorse used OC Donutsteels instead and took it away from em at the first chance.

Now IDW has the rights to mostly every toho monster but at the same time they have to send literally every page and script to toho for approval and entire issues have been delayed and entire plotlines changed because Toho didn't like it.

FYI the films are 3/4 human interaction, preperation and peril with 1/4 monsters doing monster thangs.

Expect Godzilla to appear for about twenty minutes.

They should just do this stuff themselves if they want to keep that much control over it. I totally get not wanting your product made into shit by a third party, if I wanted that much control I'd just do it myself.

http://www.blastr.com/2017-3-15/kong-skull-island-unused-opening-ending

>The alternate opening that I pitched to them, the studio said: 'No. You’re crazy. You can’t do that.’ So it’s World War II. A full squad comes to this beach. They’re killing each other – and then suddenly, this giant monkey (that looks a lot like the monkey from the last King Kong movie) comes out of the jungle. And they just kill it. It’s dead. And you’re sitting there going, ‘Wait, did they just kill King Kong? Did they kill the hero of this film?’

>And then you’d hear a roar and see a much bigger creature – the real King Kong. That was the crazy version of me wanting to send a message that this isn’t like other King Kong movies that you’ve seen. The studio were like: ‘You can’t do that.’

The only way you could be a sole surviver is if one of these monsters steps on you and you līve.

I never noticed that he was on his knees like that, I thought he was a quadruped
What the fuck
>>
>>80451505
Hes only like that because its a man in a suit and unless you cut his legs up to his knees he's gunna look like that.

In almost every other form of media he walks with four legs.

Just curious, have they7 ever shown Godzilla destroying Akihabara?

I'm sure it has been destroyed before, but have they ever shown to being destroyed is what I'm asking.

This was absolutely 10/10
The way this was delivered was amazing in visuals and music. This Godzilla was the scariest.

I love this book. I still look through from time to time. Weta Workshop does some great creature designs.

really? I just saw the movie and the only monsters on the cave paints were the skull crawlers

That was more taking advantage of an opening, rather than ramming his breath down their throats and decapitating them.
>>
>>80436070
The paining at the end of Skull Island did appear to show Mothra being worshiped, so it's entirely possible.

But really, they don't need to "explain" anything. Skull Island gave them an opening to say all these monsters just come from within the Earth.

There's an after credit scene dumbass. you left too early.

>Mothra isnt going to be a goddess with Moll and Laura as her priestesses
You complain about normalfags but pick an interpretation that didn't show up until 1996.
>King Ghidorah isnt going to be an alien super weapon controlled by the Xillians
This happened once, twice if you just mean a Ghidorah in general.

Emi and Yumi (early Moll and Laura) appeared in Mothra vs Godzilla (1964)

>>80446976
>but then turned around and wanted to charge them retarded fees to use any other Toho monster
Why do people take this attitude that licensing Godzilla licenses Toho's kaiju stable?
>get hurtburt when Darkhorse used OC Donutsteels instead and took it away from em at the first chance.
The main comic lasted sixteen issues. Years before it started they had two special one-shots in the late eighties/early nineties with original monsters. Toho very clearly was not butthurt about it.
>IDW has the rights to mostly every toho monster but at the same time they have to send literally every page and script to toho for approval
Is there a problem with this? This is kind of how things go when you license someone else's property.
