Agreed. He was definitely one of the highlights of the movie.

The actor did a damn good job.

Because Fox use good actors to create villains that you could actually see existing.
Disney put meme actors in cosplay tier outfits or design full CGI quipbots
>>
>>80418625
With all the Avengers tie-in crap, I literally cannot remember how many different Marvel films I've seen. I have a vague recollection of who the different characters are, but there are no distinct memories I have taken away from any specific films, just a big general idea of what the 'MCU' is. The only exception to this rule is Iron Man.
>>
>>80418625
he's shit, and the villains were by far the worst part of the movie

that said, I can't remember a single villain from the handful of mcu movies I've seen, besides the tom hiddleston character

That's the thing though-Marvel goes out of its' way to have its' villains pull their punches or job at the critical moment, at this point nobody believes they can do any real damage.

Hell, even >>80418833's high-tier by villain standards. At least he was more intimidating than Thanos. Not that that's saying much, but he shouted louder and more angrily at least.

The only bad thing about his Apocalypse was the fucking awful suit, Oscar Isaac's voice was great for the part, especially when they did the digitalization. The writing and the stupid fucking Power Rangers costume/makeup ruined it.

Plus the rest of the film was pretty shite too. Wasted potential.

It's the version of the movie with placeholder CGI to show the general idea of what they want the special effects guys to do for the final version of the film.

It was explained many times over ppl liked him because despite being outclassed he was still an arrogant asshole who was reckless enough to talk shit in Logans face when he could have been gutted. He had balls. It was liked. He kept pressure on the heroes the whole movie keeping them running. He doesn't have to blow up a city. He had nuance and felt threatening in an odd way. He had a swagger to him. If you want to be contrarian and hate it because others don't then there is no reason for you to even bother any further

After watching Logan, I watched the first X-men movie from 2000.
Damn he's a lot more compassionate.
In Logan he didn't give a shot about Laura until later in the movie.
In X-men he gives Rogue a ride, says he'll protect and nearly gives his life to save her in the end.

I guess seeing all your friends die twice takes its toll on Logan.

Jeff Bridges is one of the two good Marvel villains and that's because Iron Man was there before all the Marvel movies were the same fucking thing.

But really, this soldier dude was more or less a generic villain guy, which fits the movie far better than retarded supervillain crap that would've messed with the tone of the movie. He wasn't complex, but at least there was none of that "oh, he's an interesting villlain with a cool backstory that gets ignored despite movie being semi-sold on that" from the Marvel stuff.

Man, Logan was really nice.

Pierce is rather generic, but Boyd Holbrook's performance elevated the material. He also had a neat design that made him memorable.

But he's hardly that much of a standout in comparison to the MCU's villains. In fact I found him rather similar to Rumlow from "Captain America: The Winter Soldier", who was also a generic henchman that made an impression due to Frank Grillo's solid acting.

In fact barring Loki and Jeff Bridges in "Iron Man", the MCU's best villains come from the Captain America movies.
>>
>>80420723
He wasn't pointless really, he was just the face of the dark side of the human race. He was a byproduct of a humanity that was raised to hate mutants and hunted them to extinction. He was just doing a job.

All the arguements of "omg he was just a human shallow villian" are missing the point. He was supposed to be shallow because it contrasts how far wolverine has fallen that a group of cyber enhanced red necks are able to make him fear for his life.
>>
>>80420543
Stane was a good villain because he had a motive that wasn't A) Personal Revenge or B) Wanton Destruction.

He wanted to be the biggest, richest weapons maker in the world, and Tony was just in his way.

I think Redford in Winter Soldier was a good villain, too. He was just saddled with kind of a ridiculous plot.
