the greatest peice of mainstream cinema made so far.
the monolith is a movie screen
>>80386804
whoa...
A movie some people like to use showing their superior movie taste, it's not bad or anthing just weird, i'm not the smartest either so the eindig flew past me and i'm not bothered searching for it
>>80386804
Why is it sideways?
>>80386804

>>80386726
He is a fucking satellite or something for the aliums now
>>80386804
The monolith isn't anything. It represents any discovery. The first thing anyone does when they encounter it is reach out to touch it. Hal, or any AI couldn't do that, and is therefore missing a huge part of being human. We've used our hands longer than our minds, we see that in the intro.
Also There's like 10-15 minutes of people eating throughout the film, or talking about food. AIs can't experience that either.
Intelligent machines modelled on humans would be fundamentally flawed, and would almost definitely kill us. Or Hal just malfunctioned and half of the film is meaningless filler.
Anyone got a better explanation?
there is no meaning. its literally just moving pictures.
>>80389870
damn, anon, that's fucking deep...
>>80389760
>>80386726
its a sex education film about the journey of sperm.
>>80389760
Yeah that's all wrong.
The books and sequel movie explain what the monolith is.
>>80386726
beautiful movie, but I don't really get why everyone loves it so much
they want to seem deep I guess? every "explanation" I've seen either points out something obvious or is a complete asspull
>>80390789
It's already explained in the books you stupid cunt.
the chances of us existing are infinitessimal, we are sapient beings, our lives are everything and soon we will stop existing for eternity
>>80390815
>book
so the movie is just made to shill some gay book?
>>80390952
Yes the two movies are based on a series of books.
>>80390952
The books existed before the movie gaylord
>>80390913
>the chances of us existing are infinitessimal
The chances of us existing are 100%.
>>80391035
so it's just made as vague as possible so that the book will sell, gotcha
>>80391103
It's not vague at all. You're just stupid.
>>80391162
