It's an excellent film. Rankin Bass may be my favorite animation studio ever especially when it comes to their output of fantasy such as this, the Hobbit, Flight of Dragons and Thundercats.

It's got one bad song but the rest is pure kino.

Yes I've heard that, the style in their character design has a lineage that can be traced all the way back to their stop motion work on Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. It's particularly noticeable in the way they do mouths. Though Studio Ghibli was already around by the time Silverhawks (which clearly uses that same art style) aired. which members of Topcraft are part of Ghibli?

ha, Lazerhawk. Yes I'm familiar with them but I'd highly recommend you check out the show Silverhawks because it's pretty good like a more sci-fi focused Thundercats though yes I know Thundercats had sci-fi elements.
