I'm not fat. Although I have gained 35 pounds in the last 18 years due to drinking (vodka has a suprising amount of calories).

But the key to losing weight is diet, not exericse.

https://well.blogs.nytimes.com/2012/09/19/is-30-minutes-of-daily-exercise-a-sweet-spot-for-weight-loss/?hpw
https://www.forbes.com/sites/jennifercohen/2013/04/23/want-to-lose-weight-less-exercise-is-more/
http://time.com/2809007/eat-less-exercise-more-isnt-the-answer-for-weight-loss/
https://www.wired.com/2012/08/less-is-more-for-exercise-and-weight-loss/

I guess there is a guy who talks about cultivating "brown fat", but it really is more about CALORIES IN, than calories burned -- and exercise burns much less calories than people think.

You burn calories when sleeping. Sleep is also basically fasting.

>During sleep, a person's weight and the number of hours he or she sleeps determines how many calories do you burn sleeping. Normally, a person burns about 0.42 calories for every pound in one hour of sleep. For instance, a 150 lb. person burns about 63 calories in one hour.

These people need to sleep more, eat less.
>>
>>80346582
>>80346863
>It's usually the lest densely populated places where everything is far apart that has that issue

That I can't deny, everything was so sprawled out that you do need a car to go almost anywhere, but even then when I would suggest to go on a walk in the forests or parks I would usually get shutdown and we would end up going to the cinema or just stay in and netflix.

If there is one good thing about our commie healthcare is that fat acceptance will never be a thing.

I think his point is that you can't eat while you're asleep (unless you have a very weird disease). But you also burn mre calories with a good run and, more importantly, raise your resting metabolism. Of course all his sources are dumb pop science shit exaggerating research. There's a plague of this with weightloss.

Because if you're asleep you can't eat.

Sure, but not if it makes them hungry afterward and they eat.

Walking 30 minutes a day is good for you, but physical activity won't be the main way for these people to lose weight.

They could also probably benefit from shit transplants from thin people. Fat people and thin people have different microbiomes in their gut which affects their weight. Basically, if you have a gut where lots of microbes are eating the sugars you consume before your body can, that's less calories your body has.

But these monsters are beyond the "natural weight loss" scenario, and it would take surgery to help them.

Oh Jesus. Fatty confirmed.

Yes, they do. But a lot of those differences are BECAUSE they're fat and have terrible diets, not the other way around. And the native difference in metabolism is tiny. Maybe in a very crazy case the person with the landwhale microfauna counts as having drunk one extra soda a day. And that's being generous.

There's a comedian with a line like "ever been so poor you had sleep for dinner?"

People eat when they're awake, they don't eat when they're asleep. You can fast when you're awake, but you'll probably get hungry. You can also fast when you're asleep, but you won't be awake to feel the hunger.

Fasting is also good for your body. They've even found that fasting can help regenerate the pancreas, which involved in diabetes, premtebolic syndrome, insulin sensitivity, etc.

These people clearly lack the willpower to fast while awake, so sleep is the only fasting they get.

So if they replace meals with naps, they would consume less. Sleep is a state where they cannot eat.

Bariatric surgery, like where a fatty gets a gastric band or gastric bypass surgery, like Precious recently got, just restricts the size of the stomach so people get full sooner and can't eat as much. In the same way that those costly surgeries limit calorie intake, so does sleeping.

Also, I've found that sleep/eating is a tradeoff. If you've ever stayed awake for a really long time, food can help you carry on. So you can either eat or sleep. When I'm hungry, I get tired. When these people get hungry (which has a lot to do with the microbes in your gut), they should just sleep it off. Fat people can also get a shit transplant from a thin person to alter the microbiome of their gut (and maybe change their hunger patterns)

And make people hungry in doing so. That's why exercise doesn't work for most of these fatties.

They exercise, they get hungry, they eat.

It's not pop science that caloric intake matters more when it comes to weight loss. That's why telling fat people to focus on exercise is misguided. Walking is good for your heart and everything, but they need to limit calories first and foremost.

I wouldn't put it in such absolute terms, but I agree that if you're a fat, wholly sedentary shit, then you shouldn't necessarily start your weight loss regimen with lots of exercise. It'll only tempt you to eat even more, and simply halving your caloric intake without moving your ass at all is usually sufficient for a slow, but steady weight loss.

No, you won't. They'll (meaning you, fatass) will feel too sick to eat when they first start. Later there may be a blood sugar drop but they'll get that from dieting too. If you'd ever exercised you'd know this.

But know, keep telling fatties to just sleep more, get more depressed, and lower their metabolism. That'll work. (they probably sleep 12 hours a day anyway until they develop sleep apnea)

You seem to be pretty ignorant about this stuff.

This is why workouts make you hungry
http://www.businessinsider.com/why-does-working-out-make-you-hungry-2016-8

I've read plenty of news articles about this over the years. And I'm 5'11 and 170 pounds, how much do you weigh?

And fecal transplant therapy for obesity is a thing.

Eating poop pills could make you thin. Seriously.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/innovations/wp/2016/01/14/eating-poop-pills-could-make-you-thin-seriously/
>By transplanting the intestinal bacteria from a stool sample of a healthy, lean person into the gut of a person suffering from obesity, it might be possible to change the gut bacteria population of that obese person. As those “lean microbes” start to populate the obese person’s gut, it could reduce that person’s propensity to obesity.

How Gut Bacteria Help Make Us Fat and Thin
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-gut-bacteria-help-make-us-fat-and-thin/

It's been said there are at least 3 enterotypes, types of bacteria colonies in the gut.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Enterotype

And what you say about differences having to do with diets, does seem true though:
>Studies also indicate that long-term diet is strongly associated with the gut microbiome composition—those who eat plenty of protein and animal fats typical of Western diet have predominantly Bacteroides bacteria, while for those who consume more carbohydrates, especially fibre, the Prevotella species dominate.

Anecdotally speaking, after two fat people I know use the bathroom, their shit smells similar. Pointing to a similar enterotype, gut microbes.

>You burn that many calories by running for 5 minutes

No.

>A study done by researchers at Syracuse found that men burned about 105 kilocalories/mile on average running a mile in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, and about 52 calories when walking the same mile in 19 minutes. For the women in the study, that burn was 91 and 43 calories, respectively.

A 150-lb person burns 63 calories an hour while sleeping.

That study says a man burns 52 calories when walking a mile in 19 minutes (3 MPH). You burn more calories sleeping 8 hours than walking 8 miles. You burn more calories sleeping 8 hours than running 4 miles. Guess which is easier for fat people?

And some of these people are so fat, it puts tons of pressure on their joins, their knees, their ankles, because despite the "big boned" meme, these people have regular sized bones.
>>
>>80348361
The point of running isn't the amount of calories you burn during the run. It's to increase your basal metabolic rate over the long term.

In junior high and high school, I probably never ate breakfast or lunch, and it made me tired. I would sleep instead of eat. Which is probably why I was underweight throughout my teens.

And if someone weighs 400 pounds, sleeping 12 hours will burn 2400 calories. Meanwhile, they'd have to walk 46 miles at 3MPH to burn that off.

Fine, tell fat people to only drink water. How's that workin for them?

Kale is called a superfood for a reason. Kale is objectively beneficial for people, although it can carry a lot of pesticides. Kale has protein, it has fiber which helps manage blood sugar and makes people feel full, it has vitamins and minerals (including magnesium in chlorophyll which is vital for preventing insulin deregulation and type 2 diabetes), more iron per ounce than beef, and the nitrates in green leefy vegetables dilate blood vessels (lowering blood pressure). Add in half an apple and it gives people the sweetness they crave.

Sure, sometimes people drink water in order to feel full, but so does fiber. Plus, for a lot of these fat people, their kidneys are probably shot, and more water puts a strain on kidneys.

You think I talk like a fatass because I said caloric restriction is the key to weight loss?

And I haven't done a study myself, but if this is true (which is the first thing Google says for "calories burned sleeping"):

>During sleep, a person's weight and the number of hours he or she sleeps determines how many calories do you burn sleeping. Normally, a person burns about 0.42 calories for every pound in one hour of sleep. For instance, a 150 lb. person burns about 63 calories in one hour.

..and if this is true:

>A study done by researchers at Syracuse found that men burned about 105 kilocalories/mile on average running a mile in 9 minutes and 30 seconds, and about 52 calories when walking the same mile in 19 minutes. For the women in the study, that burn was 91 and 43 calories, respectively.

then yes, a 400 pound person will burn as many calories sleeping 12 hours than walking 46 miles.

Although I see now that another site says that a 300 pound person will burn 159 calories per mile walking, vs 79.5 calories for a 150 pound person. So I was wrong to assume a 400 pound person would burn 52 calories walking a mile. Maybe they burn double.

So I think it's safe to assume that a 400 pound person will burn as many calories sleeping 12 hours as walking 23 miles.

Plus, sleeping difficulty is assoiated with type 2 diabetes.

The original theory was that was the main determinant but now the prevailing opinion is that they underestimated the impact if you compare gut microbiota to that of the birth canal of the mother. It's probably mostly diet. At least in terms of the few species of microbes that make up the majority of the biomass in there. There's tons of niche things there in small populations that may or may not be significant to human metabolism, including lots of stuff that has never been cultured or characterized.

Again, what makes them hungry is the fact they are accustomed to eat enormous amount of food. They are too far into mental illness that they will equate the feeling of hunger by eating less to the condition of starving. They are so fat they believe eating like a normal person is starving. That is only because they are not used to eat less food and have compensated the action of eating a lot and being fat to being normal. since their whole body is fat, losing it is losing a part of themselves and that make them afraid of those change of habits. It's stupid but it work like this for a fatty.

I'm assuming the microbes in the gut came from somewhere. Yes, microbes can be on food that you eat, but also from the people you come into contact with.

Obesity could be contagious like superbug C.diff, suggest scientists
http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/2016/05/04/obesity-could-be-contagious-like-superbug-cdiff-suggest-scientis/
>A decade ago, Washington University discovered that adding gut microbes from obese mice to thin mice caused huge gains in weight, a finding which has been replicated many times.

>Intriguingly it could explain why some illnesses run in families. Far from being simply genetic, family members could be picking up conditions through close contact or sharing bathrooms.

Yeah, fat people have probably grossly enlarged their stomachs. But I'll mention this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ghrelin
>Ghrelin (pronounced /'gr?l?n/), the "hunger hormone", also known as lenomorelin (INN), is a peptide hormone produced by ghrelinergic cells in the gastrointestinal tract[3][4] which functions as a neuropeptide in the central nervous system.[5] Besides regulating appetite, ghrelin also plays a significant role in regulating the distribution and rate of use of energy.[6]

>When the stomach is empty, ghrelin is secreted. When the stomach is stretched, secretion stops.

>The receptor for ghrelin, the ghrelin/growth hormone secretagogue receptor (GHSR), is found on the same cells in the brain as the receptor for leptin, the satiety hormone that has opposite effects from ghrelin.[8]

So ghrelin is the hunger hormone, leptin is the satiety hormone.

And back to my praise of sleep:

>Short sleep duration is associated with high levels of ghrelin and obesity. An inverse relationship between the hours of sleep and blood plasma concentrations of ghrelin exists; as the hours of sleep increase, ghrelin levels trend lower and obesity is less likely.[71]

>The level of ghrelin increases during the time of day from midnight to dawn in thinner people, which suggests there is a flaw in the circadian rhythm of obese individuals.[84]

>Short sleep duration may also lead to obesity, through an increase of appetite via hormonal changes.[86]

>Lack of sleep increases ghrelin, and decreases leptin, both effects producing increased hunger and obesity.

Maybe fat people could also benefit from leptin hormone therapy.

Well, newspapers like to take a singular and turn it into a general, generalization, taking a single study and turning it into a general eyeball-grabbing headline, using inductive reasoning. But science itself is infused with inductive reasoning, taking a singular study and extrapolating that into a generality, or turning samples into generalities. Science is full of studies assuming some sample size holds true for a much larger group of people (or everybody).

But there is the decline effect.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decline_effect
>The decline effect may occur when scientific claims receive decreasing support over time.

>The term was once again used in a 2010 article by Jonah Lehrer published in The New Yorker.

http://www.newyorker.com/reporting/2010/12/13/101213fa_fact_lehrer
>The most likely explanation for the decline is an obvious one: regression to the mean. As the experiment is repeated, that is, an early statistical fluke gets cancelled out.

Science uses inductive reasoning all the time. But inductive reasoning is flawed. Inductive reasoning is useful evolutionarily speaking, for instilling fear of potentially dangerous objects (one snake bit me, fear all snakes).

But this whole tendency to generalize is everywhere now and it's horrible. As if any one person in a group speaks for the group as a whole, is representative of the whole group.

But generalizations evolved for a reason. It's safer to err on the side of caution, safer to believe you're in danger and be wrong, than to have a false sense of safety/security and be wrong.

>at least 50–60% of the bacterial genera from the intestinal microbiota of a healthy individual produce resilient spores, specialized for host-to-host transmission.

Again, I'm 170 pounds. I'm talking about what could help fat people, and I'm sure /tv/ has its fair share of fatties.

Sure, fat people could lose weight by not eating 4000 calories a day. But they eat that much due to the hunger hormon ghrelin. With leptin, they would feel not hungry -- hence, not eat. Also when they're sleeping they're not eating, and longer sleep leads to lower ghrelin levels.

I'm just saying that leptin and fecal transplants could benefit obese people. Which science bears out.

I'm interested in truth. You only seem interested in accusing strangers of being obese based on words on a screen.

Not going to argue since nutrition in humans is extremely difficult to study and generalize, but you should avoid summaries of scientific studies. They tend to sensationalize results and do a very poor job of trying to summarize the studies, since they writers almost never hold relevant degrees.

Even if you can't follow the results or methods, try to at least read the abstract and discussion of papers. Intro can be hit or miss depending on the author and complexity, but abstract and discussion tend to be easy to follow for anyone.
>>
>>80352277

It is as simple as eating less, but ghrelin urges them to eat more. Many fat people do lose tons of weight due to bariatric surgery. But it can mess with someone's microbiome, and years later many people gain the weight back.

And if leptin made fat people less hungry all the time, not in the mood to eat, how could that be a bad thing? Everyone should want less fatasses in the world.

Fat people don't eat because they're hungry. They eat because they're bored, or nervous.

Nobody over 200 pounds has actually felt hunger pangs in years. The major problem is eating until you feel "full", which isn't actually something that happens. You eat until you're stuffed, and the fatter you are, the bigger your stomach is, so the bigger the portion size can be before your bloated carcass ruptures under the strain.

It's absolutely trivial to lose weight with a tiny bit of willpower. Most of the people struggling at 600 pounds have some cunt constantly feeding them up.

It's not going to be nearly that simple. Hormone therapy never is. Thanks to the messiness of evolution the same messagers are used for many different purposes. Fuck with it even a bit and you get side effect central.

Fourth century Chinese medical literature mentions it to treat food poisoning and severe diarrhea. 1200 years later Li Shizhen used "yellow soup" (aka "golden syrup") which contained fresh, dry or fermented stool to treat abdominal diseases.[32] "Yellow soup" was made of fecal matter and water, which was drunk by the patient.[33]

And "those given microbes from an obese twin quickly gained weight."

>Mice populated with microbes from a lean twin stayed slim, whereas those given microbes from an obese twin quickly gained weight. The “lean” and “obese” microbes had different measurable effects on the body’s metabolism.

Know why you feel hunger? Your gut microbes. Know what your gut microbes want the most? Sugar.

Eating carbs is a positive feedback loop that makes you want to eat more carbs, it doesn't lead to satiety, linked to leptin.

Sleep has a lot to do with obesity you strawmanning troll.
