praising a movie for its stronk brave womyn is nothing more than an attempt by them to appear fashionable and virtuous, and for better or worse this was simply the fashionable movie at the time. unlike ghostbusters and such, it was actually a good movie, and holds up even when you get rid of the politically-motivated extra credit

even if you still focus only on the story: in practice, one of the movie's central plotlines is max and the girls learning to trust each other and work together, which is about as far from "KILL ALL MEN REEEE" tumblrshit as you can get. joe's comically evil empire isn't just built only on exploiting girls for their intrinstic biological attributes of milk and babies, but also on using the men for nothing but their brute strength -- nux's whole arc is about learning that there's more to him and his place in the world than fighting, just as the girls are looking for a place where they can be more than baby factories

the only thing worse than the idiots who try to hold up fury road as some sort of Beacon of Feminism are the idiots who dismiss the movie because of them
