This show sucked. Evidently, they recommend you getting subtitles for the Italian scenes. Maybe I missed out on important plot points, but not withstanding, the thick accents were off-putting.

Epic bait, my leige!

So expressing an opinion is bait?

The acting always sucks in Sorrentino's stuff.
Artificial, stiff, forced.
I think it's because Italian actors often have a background in theater, where they have to exaggerate and yell everything.
>>80296636
Not necessarily but to say you watch a show with a good percentage that is in a forgiven language, without knowing said language and then saying it was not to your liking
Well its either bait or you are just retarded

Salty because you can't stand criticism of a show you liked? 'How dare someone have a different opinion than mine!' I think, especially if you're Europeans, you're mad because of pride: 'We can make great television productions!" - not.
On the subtitle thing, it was bit of a troll. I'm a Spanish speaker too, and Italian is fairly mutually intelligible, so I got the gist out of most the lines.
The show was bad for a multitude of reasons. Unrealistic promises. Unsympathizable characters. Cliche stereotypes and 2D acting. Bad pacing/lack of serious tension in many scenes -- and then the lack of seriousness in others. The showrunner/directors trying too hard to be good at cinematography and some of the shots not really working IMO.
And finally, I'm not a Catholic, so it didn't have a personal connection to me. It was very, very uninteresting, surprisingly.

Right. That's what I wanted to express. A lot of the Italian scenes just took me out of the show. I had to like pause, and do a re-wind, and then think, 'wow, some of these fucking lines/scenes sound so wooden and contrived, that they remind me of amateur hour, in high school/college theater/literature classes, where we read lines -- it was like watching a play.
Whats this show actually about?
>>80296836
Let's seemaricon, the show had the best characterization in any media in 2016, literally ALL characters were likeable. All of them. Based Voiello went from full jew to top tier /ourguy/, Lenny's arc is one of the best in any tv shows ever, the speech before the cardinals with the door was more intense than actual battles in Game of Thrones. The acting was out of this world, the photography was pure visual porn, especially if you like art.
And so on, you're a pleb
>>80296976
It was about YOU, anon. Why can't you be better a person? Why can't lead a more pious and honest life. Why can't you let go of the past, something Pope Pius is unable to do.
>>80296976
It's a bout a young American Cardinal growing into his role as the new Pope and becoming a better person, as well as how that journey affects those around him.
>>80296977
Nice digits, paisano.
Anyway, I think you're starting to troll me now. So, I'll just say, we'll have to agree to disagree on almost all those accolades.
>>80296976
It was about white Christians freeing Constantinople in a modern crusade called by the Pope and reuniting christianity under the Roman Catholic rule. Just introducing the characters but every piece of the plot is already there
