Rick and Morty is a comfy show, but Rick is certainly the worst part of it. His speech patterns are painfully unfunny and his character is essentially: "Im smart and cynical with a twisted sense of humour and can do no wrong" Which made the show's creator pull the whole: "Wubulubba dub dub" means he's depressed yada yada yada.

I only watch it for the family characters.

Looks like Bob's Burgers (animation wise), that was shit so I've avoided this.

I literally cannot fathom why the commenters on /tv/ don't give Rick and Morty the proper respect it deserves. It is a brilliant gem in modern animation for like minded adults that is not only profound and thought provoking, but also gut busting with its humor. My dad DETESTS the shows that I watch but together we let out many guffaws at the shenanigans Rick and Morty get into.

Honestly, I think most people here are just blowhards for the sake of contrarianism. Whatever.

Same taste and smell as Bojack Horseman; desperately trying to be the new Venture Brothers but nowhere near skilled enough to match the level of writing or animation quality, only shoddily imitate it.
Reason? Likely all the liberal progressives that get their jobs through nepotism now, their friends did the show a disservice by only recommending their own friends rather than searching for the best talent.

The result is a show that'll only be remembered within the decade, even if they continue to produce outside of it.

I can't fucking stand Bojack Horseman. All my friends rave about how deep it is but to me it just feels like yet another "woe is me, I'm so twisted" dramedy that the LA set love to pump out in order to proclaim to everyone how layered they are.
There's something very insincere about a show that tries that hard to be a serious intellectual piece while also having moments of "comedy" (that aren't terribly funny). Maybe I'm just projecting, or maybe that's the point, but it just doesn't appeal to me.

Overrated, but not bad. It's been ages since I watched any of it (pretty sure I only watched up until the Mr. Meeseeks episode), but everyone I've ever talked to in real life who has watched it thinks it's a must-watch. My friend who I introduced to reddit when we were teenagers pretty much agrees with reddit that it's genius. When I watched it, it just seemed like toilet humour and wacky random bullshit, but it definitely wasn't family guy level.

Rick and Morty is a shitty show because the writing is bland and filled with tropes that you would expect from any show that tries to be smart. Its like a sci-fi version of Bojack Horseman. The thing that bothers me the most is that the jokes are poorly set up and executed, along with the animation being boring for the most part. I don't Bojack Horseman either, but its better than Rick and Morty because at least the comedy and situations aren't complete garbage and isn't always extremely predictable.
