Does it hold up?

It looks like a House of Cards poster
>>80288435
Not really. Its a meme movie

I don't even get the message of the movie. Is it "be yourself"? But Kevin Spacey was himself and everything got ruined because of it. Everyone would be happier if he just continued his life.

>Everyone would be happier if he just continued his life.
he wouldn't have been happier
Yeah, it's pretty fun to watch Kevin Spacey not giving a single fuck.

He could have just got a hobby or something.

i wish kevin spacey had had a better filmography. great actor and i hardly enjoy him in anything other than la confidential

whos to say theres a message? maybe its just a study from which youre supposed to draw your own thoughts
>>80288435
I watched it recently after really liking it the first time and I didn't enjoy it as much. I think knowing exactly how it plays out makes it less affecting
Kind of like rewatching a shymalan movie

>He looks like he has a big cock!
It gives hope to depressed men everywhere.
No
The overall message reads like a trite baby boomer ideal and making the abusive father secretly homosexual is a cheap shot
>>80288435
>tfw the blond cheerleader will never step on your balls
>>80288435
No. Not at all.
In fact it is the quintessential example of the movie that doesn't hold up after the hype is over. Even the director said in interviews a decade later it didn't deserve the absurd fucking levels of hype at the time which was obscene.
It's a middling film, a 6 or 7 out of 10 at it's best.
Could it have been made after 9/11?

Is this better?

The point was that those who challenge the norm will be cut down and beaten by society. Kind of like if you say blacks are not as smart as whites publically you'll be chased down the street with pichforks.

Truism
Yes, yes it does. Enjoy it.
