Anyways, Germany only aired the first season of Beast Wars and re-ran it for a few years while the toyline just continued per usual.
I seriously wonder why, it was obviously successful enough. But I guess it was stupid licensing issues, money issues, or whatever else. The channel responsible for it was, back in the day, one of the most popular ones (RTL2; although still behind the Big 3 private channels).
Beast Machines must have aired somewhere then as DVDs of it were available much earlier than Beast Wars, but it must have been on a channel on Pay-TV, as I have never seen it myself.

the first season has a very satisfying story arc of J's stumbles as he climbs MIB's murderously steep learning curve which culminates in a season finale where he basically has to go full John McClane to save the agency after a terrorist attack. Unfortunately the quality goes pretty far downhill after season 1.

Terrorsaur was my fav character and i still get annoyed when i think about how he's built up to be the Starscream of this show, only for him to get casually killed off after season 1. I get that they had to make room for newer, more original characters but i would have liked a better sendoff for Terrorsaur. I never thought much of terrosaur when the show was on. I really started watching season 1 in reruns and started more with season 2. but man terrorsaur was really a solid predacon in season 1. He is probably the number 2 threat to maximals after megatron. His combat skills and technical abilities AND he got predacons to work for him multiple times.

As a kid, I was playing with the toys before the show actually started (Optimus bat and Megatron gator), so I was a little disappointed when they switched to modes that didn't look like real animals anymore. The film is literally just a neat 1980s cultural product, nothing in it actually holds out without nostalgic attachment or a specific era frame. The Michael Bay films will probably be looked at under the same light for ~30 years or so, they're interesting examples of early 2000s blockbuster eccentricity but not actually good films per say. In comparison, Beast Wars actually had good writing and characters that aren't boiled down to archetypes.

I really liked terrorsaur and waspinator was like, wingmen. You see all the time good guys who are bros and wingmen. Like every tv show and movie rips off the old star wars, top gun, independence day wingmen. Its the good guys. You pretty much never see the bad guys covering for each other. Terrorsaur is firing, fires a rocket, its a dude, then waspinator covers and detonates it.

One thing I hated, HATED as a kid is any show they pretty much treated me like I was stupid. Shows like X-men, beast wars, gargoyles, reboot, the sonic show on ABC, they treat kids like they had a brain and could think. Like they were goofier, cause powers and costumes and shit, but still simpler versions of adult shows. Not straight cartoony cartoons.

I think the two sonic the hedgehog shows highlight this well. Like, kids aren't idiots. How do you expect a kid to go from watching slapstick shit at 9 and then 3 years later should be able to follow the plot of walking dead. That's probably why walking dead is so popular, its basically a kids show, and is a great step up from uncle grandpa or other wacky bullshit kids have to watch.
