Imagine you see a brief trailer on tv and the following scene plays out:

You see some young men in retro star fleet academy uniforms horsing around after a night of drinking. We see one turn and the face is revealed to be Tom Hardy (young Picard) he waves goodbye to the others and heads home down an alley.

A cloaked man is in the alley waiting, he approaches young Picard and stabs him in the gut. Young Picard exclaims "why???"

The cloaked man pulls down his hood and is revealed to be Patrick Stewart (an old shinzon)
He says "I've come to show you your true nature. Our nature. And as Earth dies - remember I will always forever be Shinzon of Remus. And my voice shall echo through time long after yours has faded to a dim memory."
