Actually thats something bothering me... in the sense that I think Skull island is a stealth sequel... here me out on this, the Skullcrawlers are based on the lizard thing from the scene Jack is trapped on a ledge by kong. We see a lot of dino bones in this movie.
And the main point of the movie is the creatures on the island have been EVOLVING there, not like the Godzilla creatures who are just holdovers. So we got breeding evolving populations right? I just got home from watching this.

I'm sorry but this is a terrible film, easily 5/10 and easily worst than Godzilla. I don't know whats the appeal in these films and why does everyone shills on this director.

Hiddleston is a great actor and his character was very interesting but he never gets a chance to shine, you're told he's a super badass Former SAS but he has basically no backstory and when he has to display his skills it's always in the most ridiculous of ways, like when they introduce him, he omnisciently senses a guy about to stab him in the back and fights 2 dudes without even looking at them.

There's a fuckload of extremely silly scenes. A character who was in a terrible physical shape, manages to dodge a monster that moves at like 70 mph at the last second and slashes its feet open with a 28 years old katana. Oh yeah, the monster was completely immune to 7.62 rounds but it was hurt by GRORIUS NIPPON STEEL.

Script was terrible, they tried to do comedic relief shit all the time but it just came off as awkward and not funny. One soldier character carries an AK47 instead of an M16 and when he gives his explanation for it, it makes no fucking sense.
Samuel L jackson is playing the same character he always plays.

Brie Larson's character is completely unidimensional and she says some extremely cringeworthy shit that got me hating her really fast. Pacing in the film was just terrible, I really feel generous giving it a 5

And I'll add one last thing that REALLY bothers me and which I feel a lot of recent movies like to do:

Redshirts come out of nowhere, they just multiply off screen. There were around 8 choppers and Kong takes out like 12 of them. And after that, the survivors are split into 3 groups: One group which is mostly civilians. Tom and Brie, another group that its mostly soldiers and another group that is just one guy.

The soldier's group is initially shown to be VERY small, like around 6 people in it. They are attacked by a monster and again we see there's 6 and they lose one guy. And then when all the groups rendezvous there's literally over 20 soldiers. Films need to stop doing this shit, is it really so hard to keep track of your redshirts?
